You are pregnant.” The doctor words rings like a bell in my mind as I made my way out of the hospital. I looked down at my hospital report and back to my stomach, it wasn’t a lie. I am pregnant and I can’t stop smiling from eye to eye. I need to prepare for Marcus to get back from work so I can share the goodnews with him. I continue to rub my stomach in a protective manner as I am finally outside. I can’t suppress my smile as joy and happiness overwhelms me. I follow him and sit close ready to listen to what may trouble him and offer solutions like I’ve always do. “I’m not hungry.” He says which is strange because no matter how late he gets back from work he always eat my meals. “I’ve got something to tell you.” “Well, I also do but you can go first.” I reply looking at the file he now has in his hands. He drops it loudly on the table and the sound makes me shiver. “I want you to read it.” He says in a tone I can barely recognize. I relax, taking the file into my hands thinking it is something about work but the title weaken to my bones. It is a divorce file. Is he serious?
