Anna sat frozen with the phone pressed against her ear. Noah’s voice carried a weight that sent shivers down her spine.
“Tell me the truth. All of it.”
She closed her eyes, gripping the phone tightly. “What do you want to know, Noah?”
“I want to know why Juliet and Isabella act like you were never a part of my life,” Noah said, frustration laced in his tone. “Why do they keep telling me to forget you? And why do I feel like they’re lying?”
Anna let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. “Because they are.”
A heavy silence followed.
Noah’s grip on his phone tightened. “So, tell me. Who were we, Anna? Before all of this?”
Anna hesitated. The past was a storm of emotions she wasn’t sure she was ready to revisit. But he was asking. For the first time, he was asking.
“We were married for six years,” she began, her voice softer now. “We met when I was in law school, and you… you wouldn’t stop chasing me, even when I was in a relationship.”
Noah chuckled under his breath. “Sounds like me.”
A small smile ghosted across Anna’s lips. “You were relentless. You sent flowers, took me to dinner, made me laugh even when I tried to resist you. And I fell in love with you—hard. We built a life together.”
His breath hitched. “Then what happened?”
Anna’s expression darkened. “Then you… you broke me, Noah. You betrayed me.”
Noah felt something in his chest tighten. “Isabella?”
Anna swallowed hard. “Yes.”
The room around Noah seemed to blur as he processed the word. He didn’t remember, but the weight of her pain was real.
“Anna, I—”
A sudden knock on Anna’s apartment door cut him off. She turned her head sharply, heart pounding.
“I have to go,” she whispered. “We shouldn’t be talking like this.”
“Anna, wait—”
She ended the call before he could stop her. Taking a shaky breath, she opened the door to find Daniel standing there, his eyes filled with concern.
“You weren’t answering my calls,” he said softly. “Are you okay?”
Anna forced a small smile. “I’m fine, Daniel.”
But even as she said the words, she knew they weren’t true. Because deep down, a storm was brewing between her and Noah, and this was only the beginning.

Meanwhile, Noah sat on the edge of his bed, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. Anna’s voice lingered in his ears, every word cutting deep. He glanced at the mirror across the room, staring at the unfamiliar man looking back at him. Who was he before all of this? Who was he to her?
His hands clenched into fists. He needed answers, and he wasn’t going to get them sitting in this house, surrounded by people who only fed him half-truths.
Standing up, he grabbed his jacket and headed for the door. But just as he stepped into the hallway, he found Juliet waiting for him, arms crossed, her gaze sharp and knowing.
“Where are you going?” she asked.
“To find out who I really am,” Noah said firmly.
Juliet’s expression darkened. “You don’t need to. Everything you need is right here.”
Noah let out a dry laugh. “Is that right? Then why do I feel like my whole life is a lie?”
Before Juliet could respond, Noah brushed past her, determination fueling his every step. He didn’t have all the pieces yet, but one thing was certain—he was done being kept in the dark.
