CHAPTER 3

“The reason I’ve gathered you all here once again is to remind you,especially our new students that each of you will soon be called forward and guided on how to harness your powers. I believe I mentioned this a few days ago, so please, settle down and prepare yourselves"

Mr Bedford our principal spoke with authority

I was nervous,I didn't know what to do,I haven't gotten a chance to ask mom about it, "what I'm I going to do" at that moment I could not find Annie and Lola I used my eyes to search for them, but to no avail

They began calling names.

“Rodrick Allbright, step forward. What can you do?”

“Speed,” Rodrick answered confidently.

“Good,” Mr. Rowley Dalton replied. “I’ll toss this book. Your task is to catch it before it touches the ground.” Mr Rowley Dalton said,the book was tossed into the air,the Rodrick ran at the speed of light, caught the book and dropped it back on the table in front of the teachers

OMIGOSH! one of the teachers Mrs Elizabeth exclaimed

“Up next is Brandon Rufus. Is he here?” Mr. Rowley called out, glancing at the roster.

“Yes, sir,” Brandon answered, his voice a little shaky as he stood up.

Mr. Rowley gave him a measured look. “So, tell us what can you do?”

Brandon shifted uneasily, his fingers curling at his sides. “Fire,” he replied, his tone nervous but steady enough for everyone to hear.

“Fire, hm?” Mr. Rowley raised a brow, then held out a handful of papers. “Good. Show us. Use your flames to set these sheets ablaze.”

The classroom grew quiet. A few students leaned forward in their seats, curious to see if Brandon could actually pull it off. Brandon swallowed hard, then lifted his hand. A faint glow of red flickered between his fingers before bursting into flame. The heat shimmered in the air as he directed the fire toward the papers.

Within seconds, the sheets curled and blackened, edges glowing orange before crumbling into ash. The class let out a mix of gasps and murmurs—some impressed, others intimidated.

Mr. Rowley gave a small approving nod. “Good. Controlled and precise. That’s what I expect.”

Brandon exhaled in relief and quickly returned to his seat, his cheeks flushed but his eyes brighter than before

some students had ice powers just like Annie,some could control minds,some had powers which enables them to grow big,some could fly,some could even communicate with animals,it went on for what seemed hours I even felt as if I was the only one who could not do anything cool,then I found out that some students couldn't control their own powers while some were just like ME there did not know anything about their powers

"so what can you do"

"actually I don't think I have powers, cause I've never done cool stuffs like some of my friends,so I can't really do anything, it's going to take sometime".When I stood on stage,I sited my two friends,there glanced at me and have me an encouraging smile,when I was done talking I left,the principal addressed the school one more time then we headed for our various classes

Lola said to me

"you did gre...at" then we all giggled.

Since it was the day after my birthday,I'd arranged to go shopping with my friends,my birthday cash was burning a hole in my pocket,and I was desperate to buy....I forgot what, exactly it's irrelevant anyway

one minute we were crossing the street, humming a carefree tune,in no distant time we arrived at the mall,got some stuffs,then we bid ourselves goodbye

For four days I couldn't even talk to mom about my powers,each time I try to ask her,either I get nervous or something.

When dinner was over I called mom and told her that I need to ask her some questions mom looked at me surprisingly as if she what was coming,I ignored the looks on her face then I sat on the couch next to her.

"from the very first day I went to Magixx Academy I felt different

strange things have been happening lately

our principal Mr Bedford have been saying things about powers,he called all the students and said things that got me confused

my two friends Lola and Annie have cool powers,most of the students in our school have powers too

our principal even said those of us who do not have powers have not yet mastered it

mum what I'm trying to say is,you and Dad have a reason for making me school in Magixx Academyand also hiding something from me,do I really have powers,mum please talk to me"

"hey! Susie listen to me there is something I need to tell you

my mother,your grandmother had ice powers,when she gave birth to me and our uncle fredd,she thought I was going to have powers just like her but I didn't,it was your uncle fredd who had powers"

"so uncle fredd has powers" when mum said it I was surprised because a lot is going on in my family and I have no idea about it

"then I got married to our dad,I got pregnant and gave birth to you,when you were just two,you always love playing with your toys,you will never let anyone have it. one day I tried playing with you,I took your toys,you cried so hard and loud,your little eyes turned blue and you froze my hands,I was so scared I didn't know why you will turn into,when I told your dad about it, he was surprised so we decided to restrict you from using your powers,so I took you to a lab I explained every single thing to them,I asked them to build a machine and fix it into your body so that it will stop you from using your powers, cause I didn't want you to hurt people"

"mum,I don't get why u asked me to attend Magixx Academy"

"I knew a day will come you'll find out you had powers,that's why I and your dad asked you attend Magixx Academy"

"mum why did you hide this from me,you made me look like a fool,I never knew I had such cool powers for sixteen years mum how could you,even dad could not even say anything,how can I get the machine out of my damn fucken body"

"Susie you have to calm down

"mum do not tell me to calm down,tell me how to get this stuff out"

"Susie please listen to me and calm down"

"you know what mum,I'm done here, I'll just look for a wày to get this stuff out of my body good bye".
