Chapter 7: Hush

Il Jung's POV

" Wake up! Wake up!", Man Bok jumped up and down like a child.

" I'm up! I'm up! What do you want?", I yawned.

" Let's explore!", he said and giggled.

"Ugh! Did someone forget to give him his meds?", I asked.

You see, Man Bok is on special medication and when he forgets it, he gets kind of, well, like this.

" Here", Talahai passed the meds to him.

" Look here", Man Book pointed towards the door, while gulping the pills.

" Where should we go?", I asked. "Out". I rolled my eyes at his 'classic' answer.

" You guys coming?", I asked the twins.

" Nah, you go on without us, we just wanna stay and rest for a while", I should've expected that from those slugs. I glared at them for leaving me with a hyperactive Man Bok.

" Do you want us to get you anything?".

" Nah, it's alright".

" Okay".

I got up and had a quick shower and dressed.

"Kaja(1).", Man Bok immediately grabbed my hand and dragged me out.

We walked for a bit around the neighbourhood and the houses were nice. I kinda wish I brought a camera along.

"Look here", Man Bok pointed to a Starbucks, " Can we go? Please".

" Fine. Are you alright? I mean, are you sure you took your meds?", I asked because it was kinda strange for Man Bok to act like this.

" Haha, very funny", he let go of my hand which he had held onto earlier.

We went in and it was just like any other Starbucks. We headed straight for the counter and sat on two stools.

" What can I get you?", the lady behind the counter asked.

"I'd like one latte with extra sugar, please", Man Bok said. I looked at him weirdly. He was kinda acting strange.

" What?".

" Nothing. I'll have the frappe with a bit of sugar", I turned to the lady.

" One latte and frappe coming right up". A minute later:

" Here you go", she placed the drinks in front of us.

" Thank you", Man Bok said. Ok, now something was definitely wrong. Man Bok never says his "p's and q's" and he doesn't like sugar.

" What's wrong?", I asked, partly out of concern.

" You tell me. ", he said.

" I don't know what you're talking about". Now I was getting confused.

" I thought we were close and you didn't even tell me". By this time, my heart was pounding hard in my chest.

" Tell you what?".

" I'm talking about Jang-ahh. Is he better?".

" It isn't as serious but still critical", I said, saddened. I'm really worried about him. He'll get better. He has to. He's the reason I want to be a doctor. I decided to look around a bit. There was an elderly couple laughing at a corner.

They're so lucky to have each other.

I continued to look around and spotted Hwa Sung at a table. I was about to call out to her when I realized she wasn't alone. I couldn't see who she was with because the person's back was facing me, but it's definitely a man. I watched as he passed some papers to her, which she quickly put in her bag. Then they both stood up, shook hands and he left. When he left, Hwa Sung sat down and was sipping on her drink. She looked up and her beautiful black eyes met my dull brown ones. I quickly looked away. I wonder if she's doing something shady.

Hwa Sung's POV

I felt someone's gaze on me so I quickly looked up, hoping it wasn't who I thought it was. I found myself looking into a pair of brown eyes and I immediately knew it wasn't him. Then my eyes widened when I realized who it was.

No no no no! He can't find out. What if he doesn't trust me?

Wait, why do I even care if he trusts me or not?

I didn't stick around to find out. I grabbed my bag and dashed out.

" Ow", we both exclaimed. I looked up at the person I bumped into. He smiled at me,

" Last place I'd expect to find you", he pulled me up.

"Chul Soo-ahh, what are you doing here?".

" I could ask you the same thing".

" School trip, you?".

" Just passing by. You staying at the farmhouse?".

" I've got to go back to the twins, catch you later, bye". I left before he could start to interrogate me.

Jung's POV

After paying for the drinks, we left, Man Bok talking about his family problems but I wasn't really paying attention to him at all, just nodding and mumbling incoherent responses. All I thought of was what Hwa Sung was doing and what she collected from the mystery man. Hwa Sung was a mystery, an equation that I am going to solve and I'm positive the twins had something to do with it. We reached the hotel and went up to our room. Man Bok entered before me and before I could step foot in, I was pulled away.

" Shhh! It's me ", Hwa Sung's angelic voice said before I could yell 'b****y murder'.

I felt my body instantly relax.

" I know you saw me. Whatever you saw, forget it and don't you dare mention it to anyone, especially the twins", she said in hushed voice.

Now I'm definitely sure something is up though it doesn't seem like the twins are aware of it.

Hwa Sung released my hand like it was hot coal and I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed though. She beamed at me which was strange considering what just occured, but I found out why soon enough. " What are you doing there? Come inside", Talahai said.
