Alpha Damon's Mate

You read stories over and over again about girls who have lost a parent. These all seemed to have some wisdom that they had instilled in their children from an early age. That wasn't the case with me. The only thing my mother always drilled into me was: if he comes, flee. Not very wise, and certainly not helpful when I didn't know who she meant by 'he'. And not really a sentence to be taken seriously either, considering that my mother was crazy. So really crazy. Exactly what she had couldn't be diagnosed exactly, but she ended up in a shack when I was six. I went to a foster mother near town and whenever I saw my mother I felt like she didn't recognize me. I didn't know where my father was. Right before my mom went to jail, he just disappeared and I didn't really remember him. Sure, there were a few blurry images, but it was like the whole thing was a jigsaw puzzle where I only had the edge pieces and everything else was missing so I couldn't see the image. Oh, and not to forget, the edge parts were definitely not put together. So that's how I grew up. As a girl with the crazy mother, a cheeky mouth and strange, dark blue, almost black eyes. You couldn't say I was bullied at school or anything like that. It was more like I didn't even exist. wasn't there. But somehow I was right. I wasn't like the others. I wasn't a pack animal, I was a loner. My foster mother, Mrs. Hamsel, a slightly older, chubby lady, was always saddened by this, but she accepted my decisions. Right now I was sitting by a lake, dangling my feet in the ice-cold water and wondering what would have happened if my mother had still been there. If she hadn't died a month ago. Would Wilhelmine Hamsel have decided differently and stayed with me in Germany? Would she have thought it better not to start over and emigrated to Canada with me? I did not know it. However, tomorrow was supposed to be my first day at school here. It wasn't that I was scared, but my motivation was practically non-existent. I wasn't a social person and I hated socializing with almost everyone. The only thing I couldn't be angry with was Wilhelmine when she wanted to be close to me. She too had been through a lot and to me she was my mother. Shannon Light, who was my biological mother, was like a stranger to me and of course I was saddened by her death, but I couldn't say that it really affected me. Thousands of people were dying every day and I even expected that with her, so I didn't understand why I had to be mothered like that. I'd always gotten along without her, even when she was alive, so why shouldn't I now? I sighed and pulled my feet out of the water and stood up. I had come here barefoot, I had just rediscovered the lake. We had only been here for two weeks and Wilhelmine had said that I should explore the area. Suddenly something cracked behind me and snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned around slowly. That was just the wind, Elise. It was just the wind. The leaves of a bush rustled and I couldn't help but cry out softly. Who the hell was there? It cracked again. "Oh holy s**t" I hissed to myself. "Excuse me?" Now I screamed out loud. Suddenly a guy stood in front of me. And he spoke English. "Of course, you bastard. You're in Canada" I mumbled to myself. The guy looked at me questioningly and I couldn't help but look at him. His hair was pitch black and gelled up, his eyes were blue and his build was just divine. Oh s**t. What was the matter with me? "Don't scare me like that," I hissed at him in English. He just laughed. "I finally found you." My eyebrows shot up. "Who?" I asked, just as I was thrown against a muscular chest. HIS muscular chest. Out of pure reflex, I jammed my knee between his legs, but my attack had no effect. He just growled and clung to me even tighter. In German I started to insult him wildly. "Let me go, you f*****g bum. What do you want from me and who are you?" he didn't respond. "You asshole. i***t. SPAAST!!!" Still no reaction. "Hello? I'm talking to you?" I tried it now in English. His right hand rested on my hip and sadly I had to admit it felt good. Yet. Whatever was wrong with him, I slapped his fingers hard. "You're even more beautiful than I imagined," he murmured into my hair. "What the hell?" I just hissed. "Again in English for you: Who are you and what do you want from me?" He laughed softly into my hair. "I'm Damon." "And what about my second question?" I screamed hysterically. His nearness scared me. Like I said, I wasn't good with people. "And now finally let go of me" Don't show any weakness... I thought to myself. It's probably some p*****t who's really drunk and will be leaving any minute. "What I want? Y-don't you feel it? B-but... you're human? He let go of me immediately. "You i***t. What do you think I am? A flying squirrel, or what?" Secretly, I had to admit that I missed the warmth of his embrace. And did that sound disturbed in any way? I think so. "Doesn't matter. You may be human, but now you're finally here. Damned. I don't want to let you go, but I have to. Forgive me. But we'll see each other again, I promise you?" He came up to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. Then he turned and disappeared into the forest. I, on the other hand, rubbed my eyes. What the hell was that?
