Chapter 19

1053 Words
It was five fifty-seven and I had to admit that I had been pacing around my room waiting for Damon for over an hour now. It was awful because my mind was telling me to hate him, to fear him, which I kind of did, but my heart was still beating for him. My thoughts went to Tom. What would he think of me if I actually went on a date with Damon? What would my mother think of that? He had said she was a Slayer and if so she should despise Damon, right? I looked in the mirror and sadly realized I looked like s**t. My cheeks were sunken, I couldn't believe the dark circles under my eyes anymore, they were so deep blue. I had already braided my hair three times, but it still looked like s**t. Something was sticking out everywhere, then half of the strands came loose again. Also, looking in the mirror, I realized that I looked way too skinny. In the last few days I had danced quite a bit because it helped me to process everything a little faster. Also, I ate less. This was also reflected in my slight weakness. The only thing that was somehow clear was my jeans and sweater, but somehow that didn't look as great as usual. The doorbell rang and I jumped. That was him. My heart started pounding and I needed to run downstairs to him immediately. My head played Tom's voice over and over again. I imagined how disappointed my mother would be in me if I went with him now. Tears welled up in my eyes as I thought of her blank, staring eyes, staring openly at me when I visited her. As she warned me. Her warning made sense now. If she'd been a Slayer then surely by 'him' she meant Damon, or rather my mate. Even though I wondered how she knew I had one. Or had she just assumed the whole thing? I sighed and looked at the ceiling. I heard voices below. Wilhelmine. Demon. The two talked. About me. Outraged, I opened the door wide enough to slip through and stood on the railing to listen. “Elise is a great girl who has been through a lot. If she's bitchy, don't blame her." Great. Then I was just a b***h. And? “I would forgive Elise anything. She is bitchy. Yes, but also caring and compassionate.” Damon's voice was hoarse, like he'd been crying all night – and believe me, I knew what it sounded like afterwards – but his words were all the more beautiful. Like medicine for my battered heart. Pull yourself together, Elise! I shook myself slightly. Now Wilhelmine spoke: "She doesn't quite know how to show emotions, but I'm sure she likes you. I can tell when you're with her in the evening. I'm not stupid!” She chuckled and Damon got in the car. I snorted. But that was slowly enough. I stomped down the stairs angrily. "Wilhelmine, Damon would like to go now!" I put my hands on my hips and glared at him angrily. This one looked a little sad. "You promised me, princess. And I'm not leaving until you come with me” I raised an eyebrow. "Then rot here after all," I hissed. "Elise, now be decent," my foster mother interjected. She usually let me do my thing, but apparently Damon had her so wrapped up in her that she didn't want to help me anymore. So I gave her an evil look as well. She looked down, concerned. "You can't last that long anyway!" His blue eyes sparkled with victory. "Really?" To emphasize my words, I jabbed my finger into his muscular chest. He just smirked and took my hand in his. I tried to pull her away but he held her tight. "I think I can hold out until then. And now let me go I still want to meet Tom!” The last sentence wasn't true, but I really wanted to provoke him. see his reaction. And that happened quickly. In a matter of seconds, his beautiful eyes widened as he simultaneously pulled me tight. "You're going to leave it beautiful! He's a hunter. Who knows what he'll do to you? Besides, you told me you loved me!” I pushed away from him. "It may be, but you still scare me. Nevertheless, you are a monster!” Neither of us paid any more attention to Wilhelmine, who was standing by and not getting anything. I quickly turned to Damon. "Let's continue our conversation upstairs," I hissed every single word. Damon, on the other hand, grinned and picked me up so abruptly that I couldn't resist. I didn't say anything. He was stronger than me anyway. In my room he put me down on the bed. "I think we need to talk. And rightly so.” I said nothing. "We let the other person finish and listen to him." Again my lips remained sealed. He sighed deeply. "I don't know exactly what this Tom told you, but I'll tell you everything from the side of the werewolves, okay?" Instead of saying anything, I defiantly covered my ears. He gently took my hands down again. " Please Elise! you have to listen to me It's really important.” I looked at him annoyed. I didn't want to listen to him because I knew he could convince me and that would mean stabbing my mother in the back. to betray Tom. Two things that were definitely not in line with my principles. "Why do you even want me to love you?" I wanted to sound strong, but how else could I sound timid and tearful. " Because I can't stand the way the person I love looks at me with fear in their eyes. 'Cause I feel like I'm tearing apart when I'm not around you. When you love someone, it's natural to want a return of your feelings!” Damon's voice was loud, a tear trickling down his cheek. At that moment the dam broke for me too. I burst into tears uncontrollably. "Why can't you just be a normal person?" I sobbed. He just hugged me silently. "I don't know... But it would make everything so much easier!"
