Chapter 1December 2013 When I moved to Los Angeles in 2003, I was determined to change my entire life. Ten years later, I had to admit that I’d really only changed my location. I was still in the same line of work—trademark paralegal at a law firm—and I was still single. My favorite leisure activities were the same, too, but at least I had many more museums to visit and plenty of plays, musicals, or ballets to see. Plus, single meant something different here.
