When I moved to Los Angeles in 2003, I was determined to change my entire life. Ten years later, I had to admit that I’d really only changed my location. I was still in the same line of work—trademark paralegal at a law firm—and I was still single. My favorite leisure activities were the same, too, but at least I had many more museums to visit and plenty of plays, musicals, or ballets to see.
Plus, single meant something different here. Coming to LA from Atlanta might have been less of a culture shock. Coming from a small city in a state even less progressive than Georgia?
