Chapter 2Provincetown was no less than a gay mecca, and while for some it was their year-round residence, many of those who came to the coastal town on the curl of the Cape Cod peninsula, the summer months were not unlike a rainbow-inspired haj. Bren arrived in P-town on a Monday in early August, a month before his thirty-seventh birthday. Traveling by himself, he’d left his Manhattan apartment in his rental car, intent on a week away from everyone and everything, and that included the memories in his apartment of an ex who just couldn’t take the hint.
