Kate gently opened the door to the makeshift dressing room. “Looks like we’re ready for the bridesmaids.” She smiled at each of the girls, and one by one, they stopped by to hug Melody and say they’d see her in a few minutes.
Once Melody was alone in the room with her mother, Sarah turned her daughter to face her. “Darling, you look absolutely stunning. Your father would be so proud of you—and of Reid. The worst is behind you. I love you, sweetheart.”
“I love you, too, Mom.”
Her mother kissed her on the cheek, and they stepped out into the hallway, arm in arm.
