Jay roared with laughter. I bounced in his lap, his belly sucking in as he wheezed for breath. Embarrassment bloomed in my gut, but I scowled at Herald. He paled and sunk into his seat. Everyone grimaced and I wasn’t sure if it was towards Jay’s laughter, or at my threat. Ansel turned to me, just enough so I could see a glimmer of amusement in his eye. Jay grunted, clearing his throat as he wiped his eye. Ansel continued the meeting without any other outbursts.
