Jay roared with laughter. I bounced in his lap, his belly sucking in as he wheezed for breath. Embarrassment bloomed in my gut, but I scowled at Herald. He paled and sunk into his seat. Everyone grimaced and I wasn’t sure if it was towards Jay’s laughter, or at my threat. Ansel turned to me, just enough so I could see a glimmer of amusement in his eye. Jay grunted, clearing his throat as he wiped his eye. Ansel continued the meeting without any other outbursts. Topics were discussed civilly, with people glancing at Jay and I in the corner when anyone got rowdy. The meeting lasted a long time.
