I could tell that my words hit her like a ton of bricks after hearing what I told her, she began to cry. I reached to hug her and she pulled away from me. The look on her said it all. I was a mixture of hurt, anger and disbelief all in one. I let out a soft sigh and this time I pulled her to me and didn't let her push me away even my weakened state I was able to hold her to me and held her tight as she sobbed into my chest. I let her cry till she couldn't cry anymore. let's go tell the rest of the pack then after she collected herself together and grabbed my hand started heading towards the door. As she pulled me to the door of the dining hall she was quite and when we got to the door she stopped let go of my hand turned to me before opening the door and said." I sort of understand why you didn't want to tell me dad. But now that I have my fated mate you need not to worry about me anymore, but" she said she opened the dining hall doors, gestured her hands out and moved it in a sweeping motion towards everyone in the room." you need to tell the pack now as well." She stepped aside and allowed me to walk through the doors. As she came through the doors she grabbed my hand encouraging me to follow her through the tables. I made way back up to the head of the table with Kara at my side. My wife had sat back down I her chair. I couldn't stop wondering what was going through Kara's mind at this moment and I wanted to ask her but she wanted me to address the pack about this first they had a right to know as well. I looked at Kara and she gave me an encouraging smile. So I took a deep breath and cleared my throat. I raised my hand to silence the pack. They all looked at me and got quiet and I began to tell my pack members. "Ok everyone sorry for the delay. I had to say something to my daughter before telling you guys first. It wouldn't be right to find out by telling her in a group setting she needed to be told separately first. This is hard for me to do." I say as tears begin to roll down my cheeks, my pack looks at me worriedly and with concern in the eyes I smile weakly at them and continue "I have been to the doctor recently do to not feeling well and as werewolves you know that it is hard for us to get sick. The doctor ran some tests and found that he hasn't found what is causing my illness and my wolf isn't even curing me of it as well. I know that I haven't got much time left, and as of now my beta will be taking the reins over as pack alpha temporarily till either I pass and he becomes the alpha permanently or the high council finds a suit able Alpha to take over the pack. I also wanted to say that this was the main reason why I had been so hard on finding a chosen mate for my daughter. For fear that her future wouldn't be set after I am gone. I don;t have to worry about that anymore now. As I had said before she had found her fated mate and I am also saddened by the fact that she will be moving in with him at the end of this week. So I am also announcing that tomorrow night at the first full moon of the season my beta will be taking the oath of the Alpha rank. So everyone please enjoy your meal and see you all tomorrow night for the Alpha ranking ceremony." I stepped off the podium and headed to my table when Kara stood up and started clapping and all the other pack members started to follow suit. I continued walking and headed to the door and headed out of the dinning hall. I wanted to be alone so I linked my wife and had her and Kara stay and enjoy the evening with the pack. I went into my office, closed and locked the doors and poured myself a drink and sat at my desk pondering on what will happen from here. I went to my father's office because he had something important to say to me. All I did was wonder what he had to tell me. When I got there, I noticed that my father seemed tired and he was a little worried. He had me sit down and he began to tell me what had been going on with him. When he told me that he was sick and had something that his wolf couldn't cure, I began to feel a pang of sorrow hit me. I listened intently and he also told me that this was the reason why he had been searching for a chosen mate for me, that he wanted to make sure that my future was secure. Along with the sorrow, a pang of guilt washed over me about how I treated him during the time he was doing that. I wanted to say that I was sorry for how I had treated him prior to this information. I couldn't bring myself to say anything because I was too shocked to hear about my father's condition. I was on the verge of tears when I left the office and went back to the dining hall with my parents. I had to keep myself together and stay strong, not just for myself but for the pack as well. When my father told the pack about his health and that there would be an exchange of power ceremony, everyone seemed surprised that he would be stepping down from the alpha rank, but I could tell that some were supportive of his decision. After he was done speaking to the pack, he got up and left the dining hall. I knew he wanted to be alone and would want us to stay and be with the pack. I looked around the room after he had left and noticed that there was one that had seemed uneasy to be the news and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Right then and there, I decided that I would get to the bottom of this and figure out what was going on with my father. I knew this wasn't going to be easy but I had to at least try. The next morning, I got up and started my day. After getting a shower and getting dressed, I went down to the kitchen to have breakfast with my parents but they weren't home. So I decided to go to the packhouse to eat breakfast with the pack. When I got there, I noticed that it was the werewolf that was at the pack dinner last night. I believe his name was Seth. He was in the kitchen and he was acting suspicious when he saw me. He looked like he was ready to start running out of the kitchen. "Seth, right?" I asked him as I walked towards the fridge so I could fix something for breakfast. As I started to gather the ingredients needed to make some French toast, I noticed a small vial with a clear liquid in it on the counter beside the refrigerator. As I went to reach for it, Seth went to grab it off the counter as well and we hit it at the same time as we did. It was knocked to the floor and shattered, spilling its contents onto the floor. I bent down and he forcefully pushed me back and came at me. As he did, he pulled a small syringe from his back pocket and injected the same color liquid into my neck. I hissed in pain as he pushed the plunger down on the syringe. As he did, he leaned into my ear and whispered to me, "I am the one who is making your dear father sick and I can't have you ruining things for me now." The world began to go dark as whatever was in the syringe started to go into my bloodstream. When I finally came to, I was chained to a wall, sitting in a hard wooden chair in the middle of a room that appeared to be some sort of cell. I looked around at my surroundings, trying to figure out where I was, when I heard keys going into the lock and the door slowly began to open. Seth walks in and looks at me with amusement in his eyes.
