Chapter 4
The days passed with boring monotony. Some days he went to work but there was a sense of futility and hopelessness about it. Each completed job brought them nearer to the inevitable. Some days he went to the job center. Those were surprisingly good days, even if he felt like nothing was accomplished.
Annalise was there and every time he saw her he smiled. She brightened his day, she gave him hope, and with every conversation he felt more and more connected to her. Which was strange because aside from the fact that she worked at the job center, lived in Missoula, and had the most captivating personality, he knew nothing about her.
