Regret?

Mateo I was noticing Alice was different these past few days. She was so quiet and not as giddy as usual. I took her to the park and we walked around for hours. It was nice. A few moments we held hands and others she pulled away but it was still nice. She smiled a record of three times so far. I laughed every time she did because I knew she was trying really hard to hold herself back. "You okay?" I asked. I knew she wouldn't answer me. "Yeah," she said. It started to rain. We heard a loud thunder in the distance. Alice didn't move. I looked at her looking at the sky. She closed her eyes and held her hands out to her sides. She spun around like a child. "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play in the rain?" I asked her. She stopped and looked at me. "I love the rain," she said softly. "I used to play in it every time it started back home. My parents would join me. My dad would pick me up and spin me around. He would dance with my mother-." I saw her eyes get red. "Alice," she quickly ran to me. "Don't break my heart, Mateo," she whispered in my ear. "Please." I held on to her tightly. "I won't, I promise," I rubbed her back and tried to comfort her. "Come on, let's go to my place." I got her a change of clothes and made us hot chocolate as she got dressed in my bedroom. She came out in my shirt and a pair of my sweats. She looked breathtakingly beautiful. I wanted to take a mental picture of this moment. I wanted to keep it forever. I wanted this to happen every day. I wanted her to be in my life. I sat on the couch as she came into the room and sat in front of me on the carpeted floor. "So, I have news," I told her. She looked up at me with curious eyes. "I am going to play a show this Thursday." "Really," she smiled. "Yeah, and I want you to come of course," "I would love to," "Perfect," "Mateo," I smiled at her. I leaned closer to where she sat on the floor. I kissed her slowly and softly. "Be my girlfriend," I said suddenly. "I, I can't," "Why not?" I laughed. "I'm not good enough and I don't think I should," "Not good enough," I said. "You are enough and maybe even more. You make me feel more emotions than I can count." She laughed softly. "But, what if it doesn't work," "Do you like me?" "I do, but," "I know there was someone else, I'm not stupid but there is a reason why you aren't with them right now, and why you are here with me instead," "Mateo," "Say yes," She pulled me by the hair and kissed me. "I meant it, I won't break your heart." "I'm trusting you," "I know so just don't break mine and we shall be even," I smiled. THURSDAY NIGHT "Finally," I said. "You are my good luck charm." "Sorry I am late, my friends took forever," Alice laughed. She gave me a kiss and I told her to relax and have a drink until our band went on. She left. I saw her while we got set up. I was the lead guitarist and backup vocalist for our band. It was just three of us. Shane played the drums and Dave was our lead vocalist and also played the guitar. Our band name was Lionheart. It was simple, made sense in a way, and we liked it. We were introduced and went onstage. I was excited to play again. I even invited Santiago just so he could see how much I loved it and how good I was. Well, how good we were. He was so busy with his supermodel girlfriend lately, I wasn't sure if he was going to show up or not. Our first song was halfway through. My eyes scanned the room and found hers. She was looking at me, only at me. I loved that. I smiled and winked at her. Some girls in the crowd probably thought it was meant for them. We played four songs and then took a short break. I went over to find Alice. We had a drink and made out real quick. I went back on stage and killed it again. Suddenly, I saw my brother. He looked at me and nodded. He looked pleased enough. Of course, he came with his girlfriend. I was surprised he could get her to come. Probably bribed her with a shiny new toy if she was good. I played our last song. I noticed Santiago spot Alice. He went over to her and started talking to her. He looked like he was shouting but I couldn't make out anything. I didn't even know they knew each other. I was confused. I wanted to introduce them but I guess they already met but neither one of them was happy to see each other. I quickly got off stage as soon as the song was over. "Hey brother," I said to Santiago. "Little brother," he said sternly. I looked over at Alice. She looked shocked. "This is my girlfriend, Alice this is my brother Santiago," she looked up at me and then at him. "Hi," she said softly. "This is my girlfriend, Sasha," Sasha didn't get off her phone to say hello. Alice looked away and then back at me. "So, do you guys know each other?" I questioned. "I work at your mom's club," Alice answered. "Oh," I said surprised. "I have to go," Alice said. "Wait," I ran after her. "What's wrong?" "Why didn't you tell me you were a Lionheart?" "Um, did it matter?" I asked. "No, of course not but now I look stupid," "You don't, my brother doesn't care," those words seemed to hurt her more than I thought they would. "Let me take you home," I pleaded. "I'll wait for you right here," she said. "Okay, I'll be right back," Alice "Why are you running away?" Santiago asked. I decided to wait outside for Mateo but of course, Santiago came to look for me. "Are you going to answer me?" "No," "Well, why are you dating my brother? Revenge?" "No, I met him a while ago and he didn't tell me who he was related to," "And now that you know what will you do?" "What do you mean?" "Don't play games, will you continue to see him?" "He is my boyfriend," Santiago closed the space between us. "I told you I didn't want to share and now here you are, with my flesh and blood," he grabbed my wrist and squeezed it. "Do you want money?" I slapped him as hard as I could. "I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T KNOW WHO HE WAS," "I don't believe you, you might be an opportunist just like the rest of them," I slapped him again. "Hit me again and I will have to slap you back." I gasped. "Perhaps on your sweet plump ass." Santiago lightly slapped my backside. "Stop," I commanded. "Do you regret it?" "What?" "Just answer me," "You're not making sense as always but no, I don't regret anything," "Neither do I," he smiled. I didn't know what he was talking about but he went back inside. Mateo came out a few minutes later and he took me to his place. I spent the night and had terrible nightmares of the two brothers I was now entangled with.
