Two months later... Jessica Marshall couldn't understand why she was so sick. She had not been feeling well for a while. A first she thought it was just a stomach bug but it had been going on for the pass three weeks. First she just felt tired and weak. Then it was the nausea. Finally she just couldn't keep anything down. Everytime she came near food she felt like rushing to the bathroom. Even her favorite cheesecake wouldn't stay down. And here we go again Jess thought as she felt a rush of nausea and made a dash for the bathroom. Even the thought of food made her nauseous. Jess shook her head in frustration. She was so tired of been sick. She was done with it. As soon as she had rinsed her mouth she returned to her desk to grab her bag and keys. She just had to go to the doctor. But first she made a stop at her boss' office to let him know she had to leave. He knew she wasn't well so he let her go. Sitting on the little bed inside the doctor's office, Jess was filled with shock. The doctor had just told her something she didn't know if she believed. How could that be possible. "Ah... Doctor, could you repeat that?" Jess said. "I'm not sure... Did you just say what I think you said? " Doctor Greene smiled at her. "According to the results from the tests you took, you're pregnant." "Oh no!" Jess cried. "This is not happening. It's just a dream." "I'm afraid it's very real, Jessica." "But how?" "I would imagine the regular way," was the doctor's comeback with a smile on his face. "I'll write you a prescription for some vitamins and antinausea pills. You are to come back to see me in two weeks. We'll do an ultrasound then." Jess only gave a simple nod in response. She wasn't sure she would even remember most of what was being said. She took the prescription the doctor held out, climbed from bed and made her way wordlessly. She had to talk to her sister. And her mom. And her best friend. They would know what to do. But first. She had to go home and process. "So what do you plan to do?" was her sister's question after Jess had finished telling them her story. "I have no idea," Jess replied. "You have to tell the baby's father." This was from her mom. "Mom weren't you listening?" Jess asked. "I don't know how to contact him. All I know is that his name is Sam and he was here on business." " Well honey, you have to think of something." "Don't worry Jess. We are here to help you," Sarah, Jess's sister said. Jess's mother, Suzie Marshall, not wanting to be outdone responded with an, "Of course we will honey. I'm there 100 percent. Besides, I'm gonna be a grandma." Jess smiled. The first one since she had received the news from the doctor. With her hand on her belly, she finally felt some peace with it all.
