Thunder cracks loud enough to drag me straight out of sleep. I jolt, my breath catching, and then everything goes dark. No flicker. No warning. It is pitch black. For a second, there’s nothing. Then the storm crashes in again, rain hammering against the windows, thunder rolling through the house. I freeze, my heart kicking a little too fast. “Cass,” Cassian’s sleepy and deep voice is right there.
