I notice immediately when I am close to the border. I can almost smell the guards and I can definitely smell the territory. I lean down and shift into my human form. I slip on my black jumpsuit before quickly tying my long red hair into one long single french braid that fell down to the middle of my back. I grumble along as I wrap my belt around my waist securely before slipping what few weapons I was able to trudge along with me while in wolf form.
I watch the guards carefully, there are a total of two at the main gate and another two guards every half mile surrounding the perimeter. I nod in approval at the defense system, it was very well thought out. I also noticed how the guards rotated along, keeping every section of the perimeter guarded. I do my best to not chuckle as I still found a spot to easily sneak in.
As soon as the guards past by me I slip right through, I took special care in spraying my scent minimalizer before entering the border. Otherwise they would have tracked my scent as soon as I stepped through.
I weasel my way through the brush and trees, around the guards and to the giant pack house. I gulp down whatever anxiety has milled its way into my brain. I don't blame Margo for not wanting this ticket. Alpha Axel was known for being one of the biggest and most brutal Alphas in the country. Personally, we had never met, but I guess there is a first for everything.
The house was also extremely intimidating. It was more than just a house, it was a mansion! I grumble a few curses as I slip my way into a lower level window. After peeking through, I new I was in a laundry room of some sort.
I peek out the door and coast was clear. Normally the Alpha sleeps on the top floor, in like every single pack that was how it always was. Which actually makes assassinating them even easier, so you would think they would switch it up a little, but I guess their big ego never worried about anybody dominating them.
Instead of taking the main staircase I instead close the laundry room door and slip my self into the old electric pulley system, once used for transporting laundry from floor to floor. I press the button that sends me up and do my best to not jump as the small compartment bolted upwards with me inside of it.
Once I stopped, I slowly inched the wooden door separating me from the floor. I peaked out and saw somebody whom was not my target walk by, and could hear their footsteps descend down what I assume to be the main staircase.
After being comfortable that the coast was yet again clear, I gently squeezed out of the compartment I was hiding in. No which room had the Alpha? I was certain I was on the top floor, I slowly walked down the hallway, peaking into some rooms only to find them either empty, an office or spare room.
Then I stopped in from of a large dark black wooden door. It was larger than all the doors down the hallway, and their was a Greek insignia that stand for Alpha, imprinted on the door. I am careful to not stand directly in front of the door, but to the side.
Well, here it goes. I put my ear to the door, silence fills the room, but I small low snoring is clearly audible. I sigh quietly as my right hand grips the doorknob and my left grips my blade. I slowly turn the knob and open the door barely an inch.
I peek in and I see a large bed facing me against a tall grey wall. The room is huge, with a glass door on the south east portion of the room, leading to a private balcony. Perfect escape route, okay. I slowly take my first step into the room. The snoring continues, his breathing is slow and steady, just like my quiet footsteps as I top toe closer to his sleeping form.
I reach the foot of his bed, I can't see him yet, but I can smell his Alpha aura which determines my ticket for kill. I slowly pull my blade from its sheath, and before I raise the blade for the final blow I bend my legs and jump into the air, so that I fall on top of the sleeping figure, straddling him from above with my blade raised in the air, when he jolts awake as the blanket is moved from view and my eyes lands on his perfectly chiseled face, with his dark hair strewn about.
Mate!
"Mate!" He softly shouts out, looking up at me in surprise and taking in my figure and my weapon pointed directly at his head.
I feel my own eyes widen as anger grows inside of me, "Dammit!" Without thinking I sink the blade down into my target, but I had paused for too long. I felt large strong hands wrap around my rib cage before I am thrown down onto the bed where my target was just laying, but instead he was now on top of me, staring into my soul with furious eyes.
"Who sent you?" He stated, with fire burning into his black corneas.
I laugh, "Really, who? More like what, big guy."
Before he can answer I wrap my legs around his waist, confusing him due to our predisposition of the mate bond, and swing around so that I am now on his back with my arm wrapped around his head in a choke hold.
Feeling my victory I am about to snap his neck when I am bucked off and my body is flung against the nearest wall. I groan as I feel a pain in my head and glare up at the stalking figure approaching me. He looks me up and down before shaking his head and throwing my blade towards me, "Maybe try harder next time, mate."
I continue to glare at him, but I don't reach for my blade. That is what he expects me to do, instead I take the situation for what it is worth and stay still, watching him. As his mate he will be unable to harm me, although I can't say the same for him.
Before I can think about saying anything the door busts in and I am surrounded by what I am assuming is his Beta and warriors. Their eyes widen when they see me and they look back and forth between me and their Alpha. s**t, now I am screwed.
"Alpha, my apologies Sir! I don't know how she got passed the guards."
Instead of looking angry at me he looks at them with fire in his eyes, "Well obviously our defense needs to be worked on, since assassins are now apparently after me in the middle of the night! This is the third one this week Gabe! This is the first to make it to my room, and yet not a single male was capable of this feat."
A tall blonde nods his head, looking ashamed, "Shall I take her to the dungeons for questioning."
Silence. He doesn't say anything before looking at me and shoving his hand harshly through his thick dark hair. "Take her to the interrogation room. I will deal with her. Nobody else!"
Great. Time for my endless amounts of torture. It won't be the first time this has happened though. I feel hands grab my arms and pull me up, starting to push me back out the door, although my wold doesn't like their rough touches, "Get your f*****g hands off of me! You filthy mongrels!"
Their hands only tighten as they continues to push me along and practically carry me down the stairs into a small grey room. There is a two way mirror staring directly at me and I am immediately put in silver chains connected to the wall. I grimace, but am not shocked by the silver handcuffs burning in my skin. Again, this is not the first time.
The men say nothing as they leave me in the room. Alone, with only my thoughts and a creepy Alpha staring at me through the two way mirror. I can feel him staring at me, so I look directly at the mirror before sticking my tongue out.
In five minutes the door opens and the Alpha trudges in, he has a pair of black basketball shorts on with a black beater. He looks directly at me before stepping towards me, I thought he was going to touch me, but instead his sits in the chair across from me and looks directly into my eyes.
I feel my wolf jumping up and down in glee, she loves to gawk at her mate, but me? Might as well wait for the perfect opportunity.
"What is your name?"
I shrug, "Call me #87"
He slams his fist on the desk and jolts up, almost lunging towards me, his face only half an inch away from my own, "Not that bullshit assassin crap! What is your real name!"
I shrug, "Pocahontas."
He grumbles a few curse words before sitting down, "I know your kind, you know. I know that if I put you in the dungeons and torture you, that you won't talk. You will just let yourself die, won't you."
I shrug again, "I don't know."
He grumbles more curses, "What happened to your pack?"
I shrug again, "Guess they got bored of me."
He gets up and walks over to me, leaning down he brings his nose to the crook of my neck and inhales deeply, "I can't smell you."
I shrug yet again, "Maybe you have a sinus infection."
He growls deeply before scrunching his brows together and giving me a fierce look before pulling my braid to the side and gasping when his sight catches my pack tattoo.
"So you are a rogue?"
I shrug yet again, "You pack dwellers call me a rogue, I call myself free."
He nods his head slowly before looking at me in my eyes, "You will stay here."
I laugh loudly at his words, "Oh ya? And what if I kill you?"
He smiles and shakes his head, "You really think you can kill me little one?"
I glare darkly at his insult, "I wasn't so little when I was about to cut your head off, was I?!"
He smirks, "About to...is the key word in that sentence."
I growl at his statement, but he is right. I had the perfect chance to fulfill my ticket, but the damn mate bond held me back. I could try all I wanted, but my wolf would never let me actually kill my own mate.
He then reaches into my black jumpsuit pocket before pulling out the black ticket with his name and pack ID written on it. He smirks before putting it in his own pocket and walking out the way he came in, yep I am screwed.
