CHAPTER 62
It was Monday morning and I kept putting off making the call to Nan Glasser. When I'd finally resolved to get it over with she called me.
"Jamie, it’s Nan Glasser, I heard about what happened! That you and Grace were in the hospital and that man tried to kill you, I'm simply horrified…"
"It was quite an experience," I said, "one I hope never to repeat. How did you hear about it?"
"Marvin told me everything and then he asked for my forgiveness. I can't believe he was money-laundering! It all makes sense now. He also said he wouldn't fight the divorce anymore."
"Why would he? He has no reason to. Nan, I hate to tell you, but I don't think there will be much money left in your marital estate when the smoke clears. It's what Grace and I were afraid of."
