There's no such thing as being over prepared--at least, that's what my first boss used to say when I was a newbie straight out of law school. She also liked to say 'watch your billable hours', which meant, don't charge a client for three hours of research that should have taken just one. That's how smart she was, she could contradict herself and still make perfect sense.
I knew the only way to overcome my insecurities about taking on the Glasser case (and working with Grace's firm) was to over-prepare and pursue every lead, even the ones that might not go anywhere. With that in mind, I drafted a detailed subpoena for the liquor distributor to produce documents.
