CHAPTER 42 It occurred to me that Viktor Volodin might not be a U.S. citizen. If that were the case, then it would be useful to check out his passport, a task beyond Duke's capabilities, but not Grace's. Her friend at the State Department had been instrumental in locating my dad and I was sure he could help. Since I was still mad at Grace, I had to e-mail her assistant Bernadette with my request. When I felt like I'd done enough work for a Saturday, I gave myself the rest of the day off. I spent it in a relaxing way taking a bike ride around the neighborhood, composing a newsy e-mail to Kip, and reading a novel.
