As it turned out, I had gotten so caught up in my own thought that I hadn’t spent much time listening to what was being said. But when someone stood up, slamming their open palms onto the table, I could do no more than assume that something had been said that had upset the person—or someone had gotten something that he had wanted. It could have been anything—but I hadn’t been listening, and therefore, I did not have a single clue as to what was going on.
“You cannot be serious! Why in the world would the two of them get it? What do they know about running a business?”
The man threw his hands into the air this time, and it looked like he was trying to get his point across through that, although he was just coming across as though he didn’t really know how to control his temper. I wished
