I have been called cold hearted for many years, if everyone knew why, they would understand. But that's my catch twenty-two, if they found out they would kill me.

I am now an assassin, just to keep myself hidden in plain sight, and to earn money without questions. I am a force to be reckoned with, I need to keep it in check.

But what would happen if people started questioning......... that's a secret I am willing to die for, but not without a fight.

Chapter One
Do you ever just sit, staring at the moon and think to yourself, What did I do to deserve all this? The wind whips through my braided hair, causing me to shiver, goose-pimples cascade across my skin. The coolness of the rock that I currently reside on seeps through my leather pants. Exhaling I pull my sword from its scabbard and begin to run the stone from my pocket against the blade, the noise soothes me and helps me think. That last contract took a toll out on me, I was contracted to assassinate this vulgar creature, Lord Eugas. He was planning on attacking the Fae which would have started a war between the Fae and their allies that include the Vampires, werewolves and witches. Lord Eugas, had the Centaurs, ghouls, and demons. He wanted to appoint his dominance of all the creatures and reign over them like the King he thought he was. The council hired me secretly to kill him, which obviously was a success, but now I am laying low for a week or two, just to keep myself under the radar. I shouldn't have gotten involved in their schemes but the money was more than I needed. So, I jumped at the chance. I know it seems greedy of me but, hey, I have nothing better to do. Leaves rustle around me as the wind blows more viciously causing the ripples across the top layer of the lake more pronounced. "It's time to go home Regin," A small male voice says into my ear, the little fairy resides in my hair when we are not at home, otherwise he goes where he wants and becomes my little spy, he is the only friend and comrade I have on this godforsaken planet. He flies from my shoulder to float in front of my face. He looks like a pirate, with his buckled up boots, Brown pants and a white shirt unbuttoned to his belly button. "Come on, I will whip up your favourite meal when we get back," he says hopefully. Sighing I nod, and place my sword back into its scabbard. "I want loads of vegetables too," I reply smiling. Standing up, Oren floats back and takes his place on my shoulder. "Wouldn't think of doing anything else," he laughs into my ear. His little hands hold on to the braids as I begin to walk us home. Night settled in a few hours ago, the only time I like to be out of the house. I don't want people seeing me in the sunlight, I don't sparkle in the sun or anything but my aura is stronger and a very smart person would be able to catch the little glimmer of what I am. I try to keep away from witches, they are the strongest at reading auras, if they want to hire me, which they have done in the past, I have not dealt with them personally, Oren has been my go-to. Walking out of the forest and into the clearing, our home comes into view, vines cover one half of the front. The paint has peeled in places from the weather and decades of neglect, from yours truly, I can't see myself looking after this home after all that has happened. The floorboards creak as I make my way up the porch steps, I wince and wriggle a finger in my ear. "That's what you get for neglecting your home," Oren tells me and makes his way over and floats in front of the door. I open the black door and walk inside. "I don't see the point of making the house better," I answer honestly. The inside is dark and cold, stairs greet you in the middle of the room, wallpaper and paint need touch-ups wherever you look. The floor is caked in dust and stray leaves. My heart slumps in my chest guiltily, I Could have done something, but I don't have it in me anymore. I have been alive and alone for too long, I haven't been able to cuddle a person if only Oren was of human size.
