My heart pounds in my chest as I look at my sister's leather armour covering me from head to toe, the intricate designs feminine yet the power in laid into this piece of material would make a titan smile in happiness. My movements silent, you wouldn't think this as the material looks new but worn at the same time and not to mention it is leather, the spells woven into the outfit has many benefits, indestructible, gives strength to the wearer, basically a warriors wet dream. Unfortunately Oren has attacked my face and hair with sprays and creams that make my nose itch, I don't wear make up for the simple reason I don't care what people think, the only thing I care for is things that affect my fighting, flaking mascara that gets in the eye is a hindrance I don't care for yet, here we are with a face full of make up. "Beautiful as always," Oren whispers under his breath, my ears catching the small syllables that escape his mouth, I huff and face him with my hands on my hips. He has changed his clothing to match my own, under it all you can see the leather sticks to his muscles, which is strange due to his size but it suits him, his hair is tied up into a top knot with a few errant hairs escaping shaping his face.
My stomach feels like lead has taken a bed inside my stomach and weighs me down, I don't like this. I don't like this at all. "I've got a bad feeling about this Oren," I never ignore my gut, that is why I have lasted so long without getting killed, my chest flutters in agreement. Oren floats over to me softly and leans his forehead against my own, "I will inform Xeno to look out for you from within the shadows," he tells me sighing. Xeno is my familiar, the best friend and guardian you could hope for, I had asked him years ago to keep his distance from me, I needed him at full strength and I couldn't keep him well fed due to his nature of constantly having something to chew on, otherwise he is an insufferable arse. "Are you sure this information is correct?" I ask for the hundredth time. Why am I doubting myself? It's not like I could procreate, no one would want to get that close to me unless if it was to slice my throat open, so how would anyone know what I am under this Fae guise that I am under? Sighing I nod at least it will make me a little more comfortable, I'm going to be acting like a Fae, I have studied them for years and I take a potion that disguises my aura and blood as one I am not taking any chances. Once I get to the signing as they call it, so I can join the trials, I will need to slice my palm and drop blood into the trial chalice, this will ensure that I die if I try to back out, sort of an oath, a blood oath.
"Stay hidden Oren, if they see you..." I shake my head scared at the thought of anything happening to him. My ear twitches when Oren sighs and climbs up into my braided hair, the Viking style my favourite battle hair, it's easily manageable and keeps it in place. I shake myself, what am I worrying about? I'm a Valkyrie, I can and will desecrate anything that gets in the way of me saving my family. I stare at myself in the mirror, eyes fierce and slowly slide my sword into its scabbard, the ringing of steel calming my racing heart and focuses me.
I grab my black cloak with red velvet that is soft to the touch on the inside to keep the cold at bay, the stairs creak as I walk down the cabin steps, fallen leaves crunch under my feet as I walk towards my destiny or demise, the former being a better option but either would bring me a sense of peace I have not been able to have for a long time.
As I walk towards the lake a flutter begins in my chest, the familiar feeling brings me a comfort that has a smile brightening my lips. More silent than he used to be Xeno is in front of me within a matter of seconds, his big soulful eyes check me from head to toe before he envelopes me within his massive arms, I breathe in his earthy scent and sigh happily, "I've missed you," I squeeze him harder to me, my heart pounds happily against my ribs, he taps me and backs away still holding my shoulders. "Where would you like me?" he asks softly. That's what I like about Xeno, yes he may be my familiar but he will always have my back and even after all this time he has been away from me, he has no anger against me for making him hide. His black hair is longer than it used to be its braided like a warrior, the years have done him good, he looks like a walking mountain of muscle. Xeno is the best gift any God decided to bestow on me, maybe they knew what was coming for the Valkyries and thought that we needed as much help as we could get. "I want you back at my side, I will not be away from you again. I'm so sorry I ordered you away, I just wanted to protect you." He pulls me in to another hug squeezing even tighter than before. "Move your meaty arms they are squishing me," Oren shouts from within my hair, I laugh into Xeno's neck feeling elated, the feeling is foreign but welcome.
"Are you ready to watch my back while I return our family." I whisper, scared to even dream at the idea of it becoming true. He pulls out of my arms and smirks at me, "Of course I am, show me the way to destruction baby cakes." he says and gestures to the side, the exact way we are heading. "Ugh, don't call me that." I huff walking towards the beginning or the end of my life, with laughter following me.
