Kiara's POV:
For the first time in my life, I had no idea what would happen next. In my previous life it revolved around Gregg. But now as I sat on a comfy soft in the spacious room, a large blanket pulled over my body, I kept coming up blank.
I was supposed to die in that glass room. It seemed that since that didn’t happen, my brain couldn’t comprehend anything else.
"Brother! The rumours were right, you are back!" A voice made me raise my head up. A young man rushed into the room dressed like a movie star, all leather and slacks. He ran over to the Alpha King and quickly bowed.
So he has two brothers. Speaking of brothers, I turned to Alexander. He was the one who had ordered a maid to give me a blanket. Not clothes, a f*****g blanket.
"I'm fine, Jasper." The king replied dismissively, but I could see he wasn't angry.
"How are you? I came down as soon as I got the news." Jasper asked, his eyes narrowed in worry. Between the three of them he looked the youngest. He has the typical boy-next-door look, blond hair and blue eyes with a boyish face. Unlike his brother who had dark hair and darker eyes.
"Stop fussing over me." The king sighed. "Why did you leave your shoot? What do you hope to accomplish by coming here?"
"Coming here? I heard my brother was fine. You have no idea how relieved I am."
Mild annoyance rose in my chest. None of them even bothered to ask me how I was doing, all their attention focused on him. Like hello?! I almost died?!
"Alex,"
"Yes, you majesty?"
"You've been sending unwilling women to me. Is this true?"
"Yes."
The king deadpanned. “You have a lot of nerve for saying that.”
“I had no choice. It was either we sate your beast or unleash something terrible. You could have lost control and burned the city down.”
The king began to pace, an air of restlessness clinging to him. “That is not an excuse, Alex. You f*****g know this! There were other ways to handle this!”
“Like what, brother?” Jasper asked.
“You mean killing you?” Alex replied. “I would never have done.”
Disgust clouded his dark eyes, and his jaw clenched so hard I feared his teeth would shatter and he’ll spit it out. “I can’t believe you, Alex. What you did was beyond horrifying. Can you take a moment to imagine how those helpless women must have felt?!”
His voice rose an octave with each word he spoke till the air vibrated with pulses of anger. The aura that rolled of him was dark and malicious, and I found myself clutching the blanket closer to my body, as if I would protect me.
This is weird. For a moment I had thought that he derived a twisted satisfaction from those acts. Judging from how angry he is, I can tell the opposite was quite the case.
So he has a heart after all.
Alexander stood still as a statue, whatever emotions he was feeling hidden behind a mask of calm. “I will not apologize for doing what was best, your majesty. I will accept any punishment you deem fit.”
“You damn punk.” The king hissed. Suddenly he turned to me. “And her? Who is she?”
Alexander turned to me, his eyes scanning me from top to bottom. “She’s a pure blood. She was the one prophesied to help break your curse, through copulation and the marking.”
“That did not happen,” I immediately said, making all three of them turn to me. “The copulation part, at least,”
“That is strange,” alexander said.
I scowled darkly at him. “Don’t you have something to say to me?”
The fucker blinked at me. “Like what?”
“Jasper, you may leave. I need to have a talk with Alex,” the king said. Jasper protested but one look from him sent him running.
“I don’t know? A f*****g apology? Maybe an acknowledgment of the fact that you threw me in there and I would have died but I didn’t? How cruel are you? You know what would have happened!”
His expression became grim. “I had no choice.”
“Yeah bullshit! That right there was a choice!”
“Besides, you knew what you were signing up for. You agreed to it in exchange for my help.”
“What I didn’t expect was for this arrangement to involve a literal beast! Maybe next time explain the fine print!”
“That is enough out of you. You didn’t die, you made it out alive with your head still on your shoulders. I fail to see the problem now. Once this is over you will return to your life as if nothing happened.”
This little….gosh! I want to claw his eyes out!
“The problem is that now I have been marked! My normal life?1 what is that anymore?!”
His mask of calm slipped. His eyes widened and he spun around and faced his brother. “You marked her?”
“Are you two done?”
I swallowed my embarrassment and nodded.
“Yes, I marked her. I have no idea how that happened.”
Alexander ran his hands through his hair and inhaled deeply. It was cool to see his stoic exterior broken, but I still fumed at him. “So let me get this straight. The bond was broken without copulation--”
“s*x. Goodness! Stop sounding so old.” I snapped. He shot me a pointed glare and then turned to his brother.
“And now, you have marked her.”
“I am not leaving my mark on her, I will reject her.”
I glared at him. “I’m right here,”
He ignored me. “Aizer was the one who did it anyway. There is no way I will mark a f*****g stranger, much less one that’s already delusional about being my luna.”
“I do not want your mark, or anything to do with you for that matter. And your Luna? Gods no. I want to unbind us too. Reject me, do it now. I don’t want this.”
“Let’s not be too hasty now, everyone please be calm,” Alexander said, interrupting us. “You… why don’t you eat something? I’ll have the chefs make something. Then your majesty, you will have to get checked by the doctor. You both can rest and we continue this tomorrow.”
“NO.” the king and I said at the same time.
“Come closer, I am doing this now.” The king said, beckoning me to him.
“Thank the goddess,” I muttered under my breath.
“What I meant was,” Alexander said as I got to my feet. “You cannot break the bond, your majesty.”
