Monday morning came earlier than he had expected. At least he would have peace of mind at work because Dan didn't allow him to work as he kept on challenging him.
He made sure to safe more than enough and send some money to his mother, now he feels almost completed. It is as if a burden has been lifted from his shoulders.
Claire had suggested about them changing Dan's school from the community school to a private school to able him have more exposure to the world and etiquettes. He agreed to that but yet, he would cost him almost more than half of his salary.
But yet he agreed to it because he wants the best for his son. And he will always make sure they get the best of what they need, so he made arrangements with Claire to check in with the school and get back to him.
Upon reaching the office, he met a boutique of flower and a box of chocolates on his desk with a piece of note attached to it. He smiled. "Congratulations Gabriel." His manager screamed from the door leading to his office.
"Thank you sir." He called out.
He picked up the boutique and sniffed it then he picked the piece of note. It was from an anonymous person but he wonders why, he could not say his wife because he left her at home and she has no idea of where his office is, or maybe she does.
Then his next thought was it might be Antonia, he pressed her number and put the phone to his ears. "Let's meet during lunch. Regular cafeteria." He said as soon as she picked the call.
He picked the box of chocolates and put it in his bag. He will take home for Dan, which he knows Dan will love more than anything. He sat down and opened his laptop, then he continued to work.
On his desk was a pile of files which he couldn't attend to when he was processing the project he had completed. He picked one and opened it before he sighed. He will definitely suffer the consequences of not attending to the files.
Now all he wants to do is to lie down on the beach and relax but it has been long since he had a vacation. His boss exited from his office and ordered everyone to gather around.
"Thank you for leaving you desk and coming here. I want to inform you that we have an upgrade in our contract and I know some of you will like it. So, the upgrade is that the company has agree to sponsor at least two of our kids to school until they finish from University." He revealed and in exchange, he gots squeals.
"I know, I know. It is indeed a good thing. Hence the company has already arranged for the payment and I will pass out a form which everyone will fill and bring it back to me before the week ends." With that, he left back to his office.
Gabriel kicked a smile, he is now relieved knowing that the responsibility of paying school for two of his kids has been taken care of. He wrote a short message informing Claire about it and then he pressed send.
He then turned his attention to his work and continued to type away on his laptop feeling so happy about the upgrades.
He has to admit it but the CEO is really trying to make sure they get the best they deserve. She is really taking care of her staff despite knowing she might lose some of her gain, but still she goes ahead to make them an offer of a lifetime.
Soon it was time for lunch and left his desk to the cafeteria. After getting himself a tray full with food, he walked to the regular spot where him and Antonia always seat.
"Hey chap." Antonia shouted.
"Hi." Was his reply before he took a seat close to her.
"How are you feeling today?" She questioned.
He nodded at her as he takes a bite of his food. "It is okay. Did you get the news about the contract upgrade?" He asked .
She smiled and shoved a spoonful of her food in her mouth. "I heard so and I am kinda happy because I will be able to sponsor my kid brother to the school of his choice now." She revealed.
"You have a kid brother?" Gabriel asked surprised. He always thought she was the only one staying in New York but he guess he doesn't know anything about her yet.
"Yes." She answered.
They kept on talking about the previous event and he also told her about the money he had received from the company not forgetting to warn her not to tell any soul.
She promised not to and left the cafeteria as the lunch break has ended. Gabriel walked back to his office, dragging his feet. Not to lie but he was feeling sick, he made a mental note to ask for the next day off to recover.
He swallowed an Ibuprofen as he reached his desk. "Are you okay?" His friend in the office asked.
"Yes. I just have a headache." He uttered.
They continued to work away on their away on their laptop. Soon he was almost done with the files on his table and he stood up to take it to his manager.
He has already sent the edited and proofread ones through the email to the department email, which the man managing the email will receive and send it to the managing department, from there he doesn't know how the rest of the process goes on.
The day ended and Gabriel couldn't help the feeling to go back home and have a hot bath or rather a warm shower. He needs that to cool his body down and then after he will break the news to Dan about him changing schools.
