9 - First Training Session

I must say, I learned a lot about werewolves today. Or rather the first time they shift and what happens with their bodies and soul. How it will be when they first hear their wolf’s voice inside their heads. And how the connection with their pack will feel too. I did not know they have a mind-link ability. That was interesting to learn. I can relate since I can use my magic to know who is where at all times. I can even identify each one when I spend time with them long enough to know how their magic feels. The witches are a different story since they have a lot of members with the same sort of magic in groups. I cannot identify them as individuals. After our two-hour class, we are on a training ground for practical training with the wolves that can shift. The others are just sitting on the side, watching us for now. They will eventually get a chance to practice too. Mr. Luca has another teacher with him for this. She is mated to him. I saw the tattoo on her neck and the fact that he introduced her as his wife. Her class will be joining us in this exercise. Strange that we were placed in a werewolf class and not a witch class. Or will I be having a different witch class? Are they still watching where we will be best suited? Never mind that now. We will be using magic with the wolves. “Welcome class, especially to our Luna and Beta,” she smiled at me and Melia. We are always standing close to each other. Nicole is signing away as Mrs. Luca spoke. “I just want to know, what are your elements? I want to make sure to team you up with someone that will benefit from your element,” she looked at us. “It may be best to use their mates,” Mr. Luca made the suggestion and I held my hand up. “No, we may not always be with them. I feel we should have another combat partner just in case,” I don’t want to work with the alphas at the moment. “And besides, I am sure they already have a witch that knows how they fight,” I added to make my statement more convincing. “That is true,” the two teachers looked at each other. “Melia is strong in the wind element. I have a connection with all of them,” I answered her first question before we drag this out even further. “Okay, do you know all your spells?” She narrowed her eyes at me. “Like all of you are doing it? We don’t use incantations,” I am not sure if telling them this will be a good thing. “Show us,” she moved. They all opened the space in front of Melia and me. I looked at Melia and gave her a nod and she raised her arm and opened her palm. She shot her wind cutter and I heard them all gasp at this. “How is that possible?” Mrs. Luca’s face shows her shock and at the same time her amazement. I saw Mr. Luca look the same. Well, everyone looked at us as they did. Those who have shifted already have their heads tilted while looking at us. “You can already use attack magic too? How old are you?” Mrs. Luca asked and looked at the tree that was cut by Melia. Melia didn’t cut it through, just left a mark on it. “16, and attack magic is best for wind affinities,” I replied and she nodded. “Yes, attack magic works best for them. We try to teach them at this age since puberty can make them stronger,” Mrs. Luca explained and the two of us looked at each other again. These people are so weird. “Can you also use attack magic?” Mrs. Luca looked at me now. “Yes, I can do everything. From defense and support to range and melee attack magic,” I have no reason but, to be honest with them about my abilities. No use in being stubborn since I don’t know how these soulmate things work. “I see. I will team you up with the weakest wolf here today. I want to measure your powers,” the witch teacher smiled at her husband and he gave a nod. He gave an order for the smallest wolf to be my partner for this training. I stepped away from Melia and took my place on the ‘battlefield’ with my wolf partner. “The rest of you, take your places and your team. The witches can support more than one, please do that. Luna, I just want you to focus on your partner, please. I want to see what you can do,” Mrs. Luca smiled at me and I just rolled my eyes at her. I looked at Melia and saw she was with a wolf that can understand sign language. There were a lot of people attending my sign language classes the past few days. Must be one of them. Melia gave me a thumbs-up and I nodded at her. I turned to my partner and she looked up at me with sorrow in her eyes as if she felt sorry for being my partner. I can feel her self-pity. Urg, I hate this ability to feel the emotions of those around me. “Okay, let me activate a few spells on you,” I crouched down and sat on my feet, holding my hand out for her paw. She gave me the right one and I placed a protection spell against every kind of attack and defensive magic too. I also cast a spell to enhance what she already has as a wolf. “The spells will last as long as I have mana,” I let her know and she nodded. The red flag drops to the ground and the two teams start to battle. I look at my charge and as I thought. The other team decided to go after the weakest member first and my wolf was their target. I felt eyes on me from the forest again and looked at the twins. Their eyes moved from me to the wolf that I was supporting. Curious, aren’t we? I heard witches shouting at me to help my wolf, but after seeing my wolf still standing after the attack they all went quiet. “What? I made her immune to all attacks and support attacks. even those of magic,” I looked at them all and saw that the enemy witches are now focused on me. As I also thought. They will now focus on me. “Protection,” I smiled and just used one word on myself. It is the same spell I used on my partner wolf for this session. Every witch on the enemy team gave me the best spell they had but none could break through to give me or my wolf any damage. “Time to play, little wolf. Take courage and destroy them all,” I gave her the order and for some reason, she moved immediately. Strange. Why did she respond so quickly? I was sure she would hesitate to attack. She tackled the wolves and as she ran to each one I dispelled the spells that were on the wolves as she reached each one by one. I smiled as she took down the last one. “Good job, Little Wolf. Time to rest,” I can not help but be proud of her. She looked at me with a sudden hope inside her eyes. Strange how this little thing gave her hope. Why did it give her hope? I was hoping for self-confidence. Suddenly I hear a whisper from within myself and I step closer to the middle of the training grounds. The voice is calling me their child and I can feel the love within me. Melia has joined me and is also looking around like I do. This is a strange feeling and yet very familiar to me. “This feels familiar,” Melia signs at me and I let her know that I am feeling the same as she does. The wind suddenly picked up and blew over us, letting us know that it will always be here with us. Magic. This is what our magic is. Nature. Our magic is part of Mother nature. The wind blew over us again and I couldn’t help but wonder to look in the direction it was blowing. Is something there? I looked at the Alphas and they narrowed their eyes at me. “We need to follow,” Melia signed to me and I nodded at her. “I will use my wind magic,” she added and I nodded for her. “Wolves, follow!!” I heard the twins speak before I shifted into a big owl. I looked at the kings before taking to the sky. “Shapeshifting magic too? Like a druid? How is that possible!” I heard Mrs. Luca and she was amazed by me yet again. Yeah, you can say that I am a druid-type of magic user. Maybe that is the reason for being able to use all kinds of magic. I have the best connection to mother nature. Is this what we are? Part of Mother Nature. Is she our Goddess? This will change the way the witches know magic if this theory of mine is true. I looked around the forest, following the leaves that were being blown by the wind. The smell of smoke reaches my nose before I see the thick black smoke in the sky with flames trying to reach the clouds. Is that a village? I saw the Alpha running in front of a group of wolves. They are all in their wolf forms. They reached the village the moment that we landed. I didn’t see anyone running away. Was this village just attacked? This looks a lot like how our village was attacked.
