6 - Marked

The hot shower was nice. I already burned through the bracelet with my making while I was crying in Melia’s arms. When my emotions get out of control, my magic does too. I could escape if I wanted to but I believe their words. They will find me. Of that I am sure. I look in the mirror and what I use on my neck makes my face go pale. I saw two identical tattoos mirroring the other one. Together they make a whole tattoo if you place them next to each other. What is this? I did feel the ache in my neck as I washed my body. Is this the mark they spoke about when they said that they marked me and completed the mating ritual? “Uhm, knock knock,” I heard a female voice in the bedroom. It is not the same one as before. I probably scared her away. I took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door. “Hello,” I greeted her with no emotions. I could see that she was trying to be friendly. Trying to smile at me. “You can drop the act. Being fake does not suit you,” I spoke in a monotone with her. I am still trying my hardest to stay calm so that I don’t zap others. “Okay, uhm. I was told to bring these for you,” she placed a dress on the bed. I frowned at it. “No, thanks. I have my clothes,” I walked over to the ones I wore before taking a shower. It is a shirt and pants. I like to be mobile and dresses are not mobile for me. “Our Alphas gave me this order,” she is showing her concern. “I don’t care. I will burn anything they want to give me,” I looked at the dress and she picked it back up quickly. “I will give them the message. Please come down to eat something,” she added before leaving again. I am hungry. I haven't eaten anything since yesterday morning. It doesn’t help to be hostile toward others. They only followed orders. I will see if Melia is doing okay before going down. I stopped at her room and saw her sitting on her bed, staring at nothing but the floor. I walked in and my feet made her look up at me. I tilted my head at her. She smiled at me and we hugged again. My tears are threatening to come out again. I pushed her away. “Are you okay?” I signed and she gave me a sad nod. “You have two tattoos. I only have one,” Melia took her hair out of her neck and showed me hers. I smiled at her. “I think that is because the ones who marked me are sharing a soul,” I let her look closely. Her eyes show me that she sees the halves. “How can they possibly share a soul? Is that a twin thing? Do all twins share a soul then?” Melia signed away and I smiled at her. This is the reason why we became friends. We are both curious. “I have no idea how their situation works. But I am not accepting them as my mates. I did not consent to this out of my free will. I don’t even remember everything,” I signed and she blushed suddenly. “What? You remember everything?” I asked shocked and she gave me a shy nod. Her face is bright red. “How? You wanted the guy?” I had to ask and she bit her lip. She gave a small nod, covering her face with her hands. She can be so cute sometimes. “Do you want to stay here with him?” I ask after making her look at me again. She bit her lip again, eyes darting around. “I don’t know. He seems nice but yours are scary. I don’t know if I can handle that,” she signed and I took a breath in. “Okay, I am going to see how this mark thing works. If I can find a way to break this thing and get the tattoos off me. I am getting away from this pack. You can stay if you love the guy eventually,” I told her and saw she had mixed feelings about this. She nodded after a few seconds. “Are you hungry? I heard they have food downstairs,” I asked her and heard her tummy growling. I smiled at her and she chuckled. I took her hand and we went down to the kitchen. Well, it is more like a common area. The kitchen is at the far end of the room with dining tables in front of it. A few werewolves are eating. After the dining tables are lounges, just an area where you can sit and relax. There are also werewolves chatting and laughing. Everyone suddenly stopped though when they saw us. “Just ignore them, come on,” Melia took the lead on this one. It is usually easy for her to ignore others since she can’t hear them gossip about herself or how others whisper about her as she moves past them. Must be nice to be able to hear nothing about yourself. I saw an open door and got a glimpse of the alphas talking to each other. One of them saw me. The one with the messy hair. That caused the other one to look at me too. I showed them the middle finger before getting out of their view again. I heard everyone in the room with me gasping at what I just did. “What? You want some too?” I glared at them all and they all looked away from me, trying to go on with what they did before they looked at us. On the counter, we saw the plates backed with meat, eggs, and fruits. I don’t think I can eat all this meat though. I am human after all. “Is your bracelet still blocking your magic connection?” Melia asked the moment we took our seats. “No, my magic is connected to my emotions. So, it already got drained,” I replied and she gave me an evil smile. “Nice, we will keep it quiet for now,” she added and I nodded at her. Couldn’t agree more though. We giggled before starting to eat our breakfast. “Good morning, girls,” I heard a familiar voice again and looked up at Casandra. I couldn’t help but glare at her and she just eyed me before opening her mouth again. “I need to assess your skills and see how strong you are in what elements,” she is being very professional with us. “Do I really need to do that?” I made sure to keep eye contact with her. “Not you. But you are the only one who can communicate with Amelia. So I need you there too,” she looked at Melia who just finished her plate. “Okay, I understand that,” I agreed and Casandra looked relieved. Our plates were taken from us before we could take them to the kitchen. “Thank you,” I responded out of habit and I am surprised that they did it too. I could tell that everyone was a bit scared of me. I told Melia what we will be doing at the moment and she nodded at me, looked at Casandra, and walked with me as we followed Casandra outside. We turned left outside the door and I noticed we were in an area where the alphas can see us. Oh, great. Must they always watch everything? Casandra took the bracelet off Melia and gave a signal to some guys. A target board appeared. “Please show us if you can hit the target,” Casandra asked and I translated it for Melia. Melia nodded and she looked at the target. She made wind cut the board and Casandra frowned at this. This is the one thing Melia can do with her magic at the moment. “You don’t use incantations either?” Casandra looked at me worried and I showed her no. “None of you use incantations. How did you learn magic?” She is still concerned and I made eye contact with her. This made her take a step away from me. “We just can. We are born with magic. We did not get magic from a book or ritual like you witches did. You are the weird ones,” I told her and she frowned at me. She clearly did not know about us until today. “What shall we call you as species?” Casandra struggled to get the words out with confidence. “Magic users. Or elementals. But we are not witches,” I made sure she understood that with my eyes and attitude. “Okay, let's move on. Since both of you are 16 you will need to attend school,” she wrote something down on her board again. “School? Is that a rule?” I am still not going to back down from her. She is not a marked female. She can leave when she wants to. “Yes, it is a rule for all children under the age of 18. The year you turn 18 will be your last year of school,” she is trying hard to keep her cool and not run away from me. “Okay, will we be learning about werewolves too? And will there be a translator in the classroom for Melia because I also need to focus in class? I can’t do everything,” I asked and Casandra is trying to give me an answer since her mouth opens and closes a lot. “Hey,” I heard a voice I did not want to hear yet. I turned to it as calmly as I can be right now. I felt my sparks move over my body again as my hands were in fists next to my body. “What do you want?” I say with gridded teeth. They are both here but only one spoke. “Can we speak with you for a moment?” They both asked this time. I frowned at them. I looked at Melia and she gave me a nod. Telling me that she will be okay. I looked back at them and gave a nod too. We moved away from the others and the two of them looked me in the eyes before speaking. “What can we do to make you love us?” They asked and I chuckled. “You can not make me love you,” I have so much hate for them. “Can we at least reach an agreement?” they propose and I laugh again. “What can you possibly give me?” I cannot believe they think they are innocent in all this. “It is not something to give but someone we can keep or kill,” they are getting serious. “Threatening me? Do you really think that is going to make me love you?” I can not believe this. Do they think I am weak or they can force me? “You are impossible!!” They growl and I tilt my head at them. “And you drugged me. That is just one of the reasons I have to hate you!” I raised my voice, causing them to stop talking over me. “We can’t help how the drug affected you!” They are starting to get angry. I held my hand up at them. “Walk away. My bracelet is already drained. Do you want to feel my wrath?” I warned them and their eyes moved to my bracelet before back to my face. They growl again before walking off, shaking their heads. Is the shared soul thing true? They move as one and do a lot of things the same.
