CHAPTER ELEVEN

“Can I come in?” Gene asked with her warm smile

“Y-Yeah, sure come in!” I replied motioning her inside panicky after seeing Gene all of a sudden.

“Sorry, I was about to sleep, that’s why my light is turned off.” I apologize while pressing the switch of the light to turn it on, in a hurry.

“Sorry. I disturb your sleep.” Gene apologize immediately.

“I just really came to apologize about our last dinner.” Gene continued.

“It is okay, no need to apologize, I understand.” I said cutting her from what she is apologizing for.

Gene was about, to speak again, when someone called Gene from the outside.

“Gene!” A girl’s voice called from the outside.

“Why is that girl…!” I heard Gene uttered irritably, before turning her gaze to me. I just smile.

“I’m so—” Gene’s word was cut when Raine entered without notice.

Raine brows raise when she saw me, before turning her gaze to Gene while smiling sweetly, as she come closer to us, but her eyes is on Gene.

“What took you so long? My heels is already aching.” Raine dramatically said while pouting, and cling her arms to Gene’s.

I saw Gene getting rid of Raine’s clinging arms to her, but Raine doesn’t want to let go, and pretend that Gene’s is not doing anything.

“Let go.” Gene said in a cold voice.

“Psh!” Raine scoffed and rolled her eyes.

“Why? You don’t want your her to know that I’m your freaking girlfriend?” Raine irritably said, turning her gaze on me with brows raised.

“Stop.” Gene said again in a cold voice that whoever will hear it will surely shiver.

But Gene’s tone seems like doesn’t affect Raine at all, and just continue.

“Why am I not right?!” Raine madly asked this time.

Okay, what is this all of a sudden? I thought as I switch my gaze to Gene and to Raine.

What does Raine is talking about? And she is Gene’s girlfriend? You mean romantically? I thought again.

“Ahm…” I started, to get Gene’s and Raine’s attention.

“I-I think, you two should talk, first.” I said carefully to avoid the two infront of me to be offended.

“And, please be at ease, Gene is just being a good host not just only to me, but to others as well.” I said, turning my gaze to Raine with a small, yet assuring smile.

What I said, was true though, Gene is also kind to other guests, because I her helping some of the guest from a afar weeks ago. But thinking about Gene is just being kind to her, made me suddenly feel a thud of sadness.

Okay, what is that Avery Cortez? I asked to myself and shove my all of a sudden strange feeling and thoughts.

“Ave, sorry for this again, please excuse us.” Gene said after a while before turning to Raine looking pissed off, and pulled Raine in her arm.

“Okay…” I just said, while watching the two left.

Gene took, Raine back to its designated suit, feeling pissed about, the fuss that the woman did.

She don’t know, that Raine would follow her, when she went to Avery, to apologize from what happened in their dinner, but Raine ruined it again.

Yeah, again, and she is very near to make this woman kicked out from her island. She is getting in her nerves for intervening and act like her girlfriend, whenever she will going to get near to other girls, and she think that it is her fault, because she let Raine to intervene to her business in the past.

But, she don’t like it, what is Raine is doing now, she is ruining her plans.

“Why are you so angry,” Raine asked with her face crumpled in irritation as soon as they entered Raine’s room, “ I was just doing it like what I am doing bef—"

 “And you should stop, until I still have my patience.” Gene cut to Raine.

“I am warning you to stop this in instant, or I will kick you out from this island! Now choose!” Gene said with warning and finality.

Gene’s warning seemed affect Raine, and saw her crossing her arms and sigh a surrender one, while rolling its eyes on her.

“Fine! I will stop! Happy?!” Raine said rolling its eyes on her again.

“What is so precious about that Avery anyway?” Gene heard Raine whispered that made her brows knotted.

“Do you not really remember her?” Gene asked casually to Raine this time.

“No,” Raine replied, all of the pissed and madness died down.

“Why? Is she someone from our past that I forgot remember? Raine asked this time.

“I don’t think I already met her aside in this island.” Raine uttered to herself, while Gene went to the sofa, not minding Raine, seeking her memories of people she met from the past.

“Riri.” Gene said, after realizing that Raine is still doesn’t remember Avery.

Raine, repeated what is the name that Gene mentioned, until her eyes bawled out after finally remembering Avery, and look at Gene who seemed waiting for her to finally remember.

“You m-mean that Riri? Your…” Raine asked unbelievably to Gene.

Gene smile a sad one, and nod to confirm the Riri or Avery Cortez that they know.

“Oh my gosh! What I have done!?” Raine asked to herself while turning her gaze to Gene, who just smile at her sadly.

“What am I going to do? Specially, you.” Raine asked again this time, to Gene with a quilt expresses in her face.

Gene shrugged her shoulder and replied, “Maybe just go with the flow?”

Hearing Gene’s answer only made her guilt get stronger. Nice Raine, just nice! You just really did a great job! Raine said inside her head with full of sarcasm, before turning her gaze to Gene again, and sigh.
