Chapter Two The following evening Laura was busy in the kitchen. Ian wandered in just as she finished serving dinner, to see if there was anything he could do to help. “Nice timing!” she said with a sarcastic smile, in answer to his enquiry. “Grab the wine out of the fridge and bring your plate.” When they sat down and began to eat, they were silent for a few moments until Laura said, “I’ve been thinking about the conversation we had the other week.” “About what a c**k-w***e you were when you were younger?” “About having a baby,” she said, slapping him playfully on the arm. Ian smiled. He rather liked the idea of walking a daughter to school or kicking a ball around with a tousled haired son. He completely blanked all the actual pregnancy and baby aspects.
