“Alma, the director wants to see you in his office,” said the tall blond woman who is wasting her ivy league education on a sleazy, money-hungry, senator's son that Daddy had to hire. I hate that man.  As I made my way to Mr. Andrews’ office I remember the day I was hired. I had just graduated with my master’s in Anthropology from Harvard to work on my Ph.D., I was so nieve with grand ideas of the important work that I would be doing. I believed Mr. Andrews when he said that working at the Field Museum is where I'm best suited. He painted a wonderful picture of working with the Aztec history, instead, I found myself helping old Dr. Miller Ph.D. with the wonderful historical events of the civil war. Not that there’s anything wrong with that it just wasn't the focus of my thesis. I sure did love the help he gave me on the ways of the Museum business.  "You wanted to see me, Mr. Andrews?" I asked as I walked into his office. "Yes Alma so I have some news," he said almost as if my presence was repulsive. "My father has been assigned to be the liaison to the Mexican President, and he has asked for your assistance" "My assistance?" I ask with some confusion, “yes, he was given access to the Templo Mayor Museum in Mexico City and has personally asked for you to fly down as soon as possible. Can you be ready to go tonight?" "Absolutely" I reply. "Good, I'll have your ticket ready by the end of your shift." "Please extend my thanks and gratitude for this opportunity," I say. He just nods and in a very dismissive way, he ushers me out of his office. I'm all in a frenzy as I tell Dr. Miller all about my new adventure. He tells me that this will put all my effects in learning about the Interworking of the museum to great use. Plus it will get me closer to my Ph.D.  During lunch Ms. Jenkins comes to sit at my table, "hey Alma what did Mr. Andrews need from you?" She askes."Oh my gosh, Stacy, he didn't tell you? His dad wants me to go down to Mexico City and help him at the Templo Mayor Museum. Can you believe it?" She gives me a little smile, "he did tell you!" She shakes her head. "Who do you think told the old man to request you. You should have seen Gray Andrews Jr face when Mr. Andrews asked about you. I don’t think I have ever seen him speechless,” she said. I couldn’t help but laugh. I had to admit I would miss her, we've gotten very close from the very beginning and I hate that she will have to be stuck with that pompous nitwit that degrades everyone. What a dreadful human being. "You know, Stacy says, you might even find some fine Mexican man to add to the adventure " she teases. Stacy, stop I don't have time for men, you know that. " well you need to get laid my dear, it's been far too long." Whatever getting rid of Derick was the best thing I could do for my career.  Dreck was so sweet when I first met him. I thought that he was going to be supportive when it came to my dream, but all he wanted was a nice and obedient little Mexican girl that would cook and clean for him and not have a brain. I was so naive when I was in college. My family sacrificed so much for me to get to college and I was not going to have some backward country boy take all of that away. At the end of my shift, I went home to change and pack for my flight. As I packed I couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like to live at that time. All the advancements and discoveries that my people have made. My family would be so proud of me if they were still alive. I will be exploring the Aztec people and getting to know my history. My father was a very proud man and when he got sick he told the doctors that his cancer would not stop him from paying for my college and that he would live to see me graduate. He almost made it, my mom called him to heaven my senior year of Harvard.  I remember the stories he would tell me of the Goddess Xochiquetzal and how she would gift a male with his soulmate and help them with fertility so that they can be fruitful and give birth to more Aztecs. When I was young he would tell me that the Goddess was so proud of her work in helping my mother give birth to me that as a gift she gave my mother she gave her eternal rest in the heavens. I would always laugh and said that she was so silly. In reality, I didn't know very much about my mother but the stories of hers and my father's romance. I was birth 2 years after he met her. and he said that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, he said that her skin was like light brown sugar and that her eye was like pools of chocolate with raven black hair. He said that she glowed like the sands of the Caribbean when the sun would touch her skin. I always wanted to be admired and loved the way he loved her. That's what I wanted from Darrek but all he saw me as was an Aztec girl that would be a great cook. I rolled my eye at the thought.  When the plane landed I texted Stacy to let her know I arrived safely and she texted back with a smiley emoji, followed by a have fun and an eggplant emoji. She was always trying to hook me up. I laughed at the thought. She and I got really close the first day I was hired, she said we orphans have to stick together, he parents had died when she was a little girl in a terrible car accident and had to live with her very wealthy aunt in Connecticut. One day she will be running that museum and make her aunt proud.  It was about 8:15 in the evening when I arrived at the hotel I tipped the taxi and I went in to check in the receptionist at the door looked at me in awe and said how can I help you miss in In her best American Accent, Yes I'm here to check in my name is Alma Doyle, Ah yes your room is at the top floor you have the pental suite, With a look of shock she handed me the key and smiled she then said this is courtesy of Mr. Andrews please enjoy your stay here at the Grand hotel Ciudad de Mexico.
