Ace's POV I prepared as many things as we were going to need for our journey to council, The council of the seven wise wolves resided at an ancient monastery but built at the tip of the mountains, It was a two days journey so I packed as much food and water that were going to need I had waited for my brother at the secret passage, I had waited a long time and no sign of him, "Is it that he has been caught or something" I wondered to my self, I was already getting scared, "should I return and abort the mission" Just when I was loosing faith in my brother, I heard foot step running towards me, and the I saw a figure approaching me, "run, they are right behind me" the figure spoke up It was Tyson, he was being chased by the guards," halt" one of the guard echoed quickly motioned for Tyson to follow me, and without a second thought, we sprinted through the narrow secret passage, leaving the pursuing guards bewildered and unable to pursue us. The passageway was dimly lit, and the damp walls seemed to close in on us as we hurried along. "We need to make it to the edge of the woods," I panted to Tyson, my heart racing. "It's our best chance to lose them." Tyson nodded, his breath coming in short gasps. "Lead the way, Ace." "Halt", one of the guards said again as they continued chasing us, "who are you" they didn't seem to recognize us because we had covered our faces with cloaks As we reached the end of the passage, we burst out into the open, the moon casting a very lit glow over the lands. The woods lay ahead of us, dense and inviting, a natural refuge from our pursuers. We dashed towards the cover of the trees, our footsteps muffled by the fallen leaves and soft soil. The distant shouts of the guards echoed behind us, their voices growing fainter as we put more distance between us and the castle. I dared not look back, focusing all my energy on navigating through the forest and ensuring Tyson stayed close. Finally, we slowed down to catch our breath, hidden amongst the trees. Our hearts were still pounding, but the immediate danger seemed to have passed. "Are you alright?" I asked Tyson, concern etched across my face. He nodded, his chest heaving. "I'm okay. Thanks for warning me, Ace. Those guards almost had me." "We're in this together," I replied, giving him a reassuring smile. "Now, we need to keep moving. The monastery of the wise elders is still a day's journey ahead." We resumed our trek through the woods, pushing forward with determination. Hours passed, and fatigue began to set in. We found a small clearing to rest, settling down beneath a canopy of leaves. I unpacked some of the provisions we had brought, sharing the food and water we'd carefully packed for the journey. As we finished our meal, we glanced up at the sky, watching the stars twinkle above us. The weight of our mission hung heavy in the air, but so did a sense of purpose With renewed resolve, we extinguished the campfire and continued on our way, we walked through the woods till it was very dark and we could seem to see through the bushes, "I think we should set our camp here" Tyson said to me, "we should continue our journey at dawn, I nodded in agreement, "i think that's a good idea, besides am already getting tired of all this walking" relieved at the prospect of a much-needed rest. We set up a makeshift camp, gathering leaves and branches to create a comfortable spot to sleep. The forest around us was alive with the sounds of the night, a symphony of chirping insects and distant rustling leaves. "We'll take turns keeping watch," I suggested, my voice barely above a whisper. "We can't afford to let our guard down, especially after being pursued by the guards." Tyson nodded in agreement. "Agreed. I'll take the first watch. You get some rest, Ace." I reclined on the makeshift bedding, my body weary but my mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead. Closing my eyes, I listened to the sounds of the forest, the rhythm of nature lulling me into a state of half-sleep. The hours ticked by slowly, and I was eventually awoken by Tyson gently shaking my shoulder. "It's your turn for watch," he whispered, his eyes heavy with exhaustion. I nodded and rose to my feet, taking my position at the edge of our campsite. The night was serene, the moon casting an ethereal glow that illuminated the surroundings. I kept a vigilant eye on our surroundings, scanning the darkness for any signs of movement or danger. Time seemed to stretch as I stood there, lost in my thoughts. A few hours had passed and day was already at the tip of breaking when I heard the rustling of bushes, I seemed like we were being watched, I knew someone was there, "Tyson wake up", I said touching him on his shoulder trying to alert him, " I think there some one is here" Tyson's eyes snapped open, and he immediately tensed, his senses on high alert. We both remained motionless, straining our ears to catch any sound that might give away the presence of whoever was lurking in the shadows. Looking through the darkness, we caught a glimpse of movement. Figures emerged from the bushes, their eyes glinting in the moonlight. Wolves, but not just any wolves. These were larger, more imposing, and their disheveled appearance indicated that they weren't part of any pack we were familiar with. "Rogue wolves," Tyson whispered under his breath. "They're not like the ones we've encountered before." "Get ready," Tyson whispered, "We may have to defend ourselves." One of the wolves, larger than the rest, took a step forward, its gaze locked onto us. Its lips curled back in a snarl, revealing sharp, glistening teeth, he must have been the leader. The tension in the air was suffocating, As he was about to pounce on us, Tyson brought out a knife from his robe, just in time when the wolf was almost on him, Tyson Pierced the knife from his lower jaw, up to his forehead. The rouge wolves leader died instantly, the other looked at us with fury covering their face, "run" Tyson shouted to me as we ran further into the bushes.
