River woke up feeling jostled; it took her a moment too long to realize that she was being carried down the stairs by Lachlan at a full run. “What’s wrong?” She asked, but her words sounded sleep-addled, much like her brain was feeling at the unusual wake-up. She’d figured out that he was running down the stairs with her and that it was still dark outside. That was the full extent of the information that she had managed to collect. “I need you to stay in the fort, Nixie.” Lachlan answered her urgently, his eyes glancing at her with concern before he slid around the turn at the bottom of the stairs, rushing towards the library with other wolves rushing around in utter chaos. “I can –“ She wanted to protest and offer her help. “I need you safe and caring for your little camp, Nixie.” He
