Chapter one: The Beginning

458 Words
When I first moved to Sacramento, California, I thought it was the end of the world. I left my comfort zone of knowing everyone and knowing where to go. I miss my small town of Warsaw, New York. But most of all, I miss my friends, my old school, everything. We lived on 247 Angrave rd. it is the big blue house on the top of the hill. Nobody really knows who lived here before us, it sat empty for so long, but there are stories about it.     One of the stories goes that the original maker of this house designed it just for his family, but he died mysteriously before he could bring his family to see the house. But then a few years later, another man saw the house was up for sale for a great price and he bought it. That weekend he went and got his family to see the house and move all their stuff in it. A few months passed, the family started to disappear one by one, until every last one of them disappeared. Well, at least that’s what we are told anyway.       My parents went before me and my brother, to check out the house and the surroundings. As soon as I got there I ran straight to the attic. My parents told my brother and me about the house when they returned. Of course, my first question was, ‘Is there an attic?’ The only reason I picked the attic in the first place, is because I spent 17 years of my life living downstairs, with my brother and my parents kept barging in on me.  Oh, did I forget to introduce myself? I’m terribly sorry for being so rude. My name is Eval Maria Jones, but you may call me Ev. My parent's names are Alexander and Alexandria Jones. My dad is a full-blooded human like my little brother Alex, but my mom is really special to me because she really understands what I am going through as a teenage girl with Vampiric needs. But my ex-best friend, Lacey, helped me with my human needs because she’s fully mortal. Well, she used to before she slept with my boyfriend.  If you haven’t caught on by now, that my mom and I are vampires, and no we don’t feed on humans like others. We take ours from blood bags from the hospital or we get it from dangerous animals. Well, I’m half-vampire anyways.  “Eval, it’s time for supper! Come down here!” my mother shouted up to me.  “Coming, mother!” I yelled back.  Supper was ok, I guess. No one really talked much about anything. Because dad hasn’t found a job, and neither has our mother. As for Alex and me, we don’t start school until next week.
