I slowly start to open my eyes. Everything is a little blurry at first while my eyes try to adjust. I feel a sharp pain aiming towards the back of my head. “Ow, what the heck happened?” I whisper to myself. I rub my head gently and feel a little lump on the back of my head. “Great, I guess I hit my head when I passed out. Wait, where am I?” I sat up faster than I should had. The pain felt way more intense from moving so quickly. I whimper to myself a little bit and look around. I’m in a king sized bed. The blankets are black and furry. The sheets are silky and a crimson red. The chandelier over me has red crystals draping down with black roses and what appears to be ivy running across the ceiling. The furniture looks so antique. At least a couple centuries old. It’s in such good shape and so shiny it’s hard to believe it could be so old. There’s two windows in this gigantic bedroom, yet they are covered by thick, black curtains that I can’t even tell if it’s day or night. I slowly get off the bed wondering if I should or not. Curiosity and fear take the best of me. I go up to the windows and pull the curtains back and see it’s day time. Yet, wherever I am, it feels darker than ever for some reason. “What is going on?” I say aloud. I head for the door wondering if I’m making a good decision or if I should be staying put. I try my best to tippy toe across the floor slowly so nobody can hear me. I open the door slowly and peek out. The hallway was bigger than my freaking bedroom. It was long yet wide, with portraits that are painted all over the walls. I step out slowly and carefully shut the door quietly behind me. Dread starts to wash over me as I realize not only is this place beautiful, it has the creepiest vibe to it. If anything I’ve learned in the past growing up is true, it’s to trust my gut instincts. Yet, I ignore it. “Whoever lives here sure doesn’t like anything bright.” I think to myself. It’s so dim in this hallway. I grab my phone out of my pocket just to realize it’s dead. “Freaking great. I have no idea where I am and my phones dead.” I thought. I start to walk which feels like minutes just to reach a beautiful, stained glass staircase. I don’t know whether to be in awe or be completely terrified. Thoughts slowly start to come back to me before I passed out. “Wait! Who’s voice was that last night? Why was there a dead person? Where am I? Am I kidn*pped?” I feel my heart racing faster and faster. I try to take slow deep breaths so my mind can clear up a little bit. I need to find a way out of here and fast. The fear consumes me once more. I feel the goosebumps all over my skin. I feel the little hairs sticking up on every inch of my body. I run down the stairs and see a beautiful fireplace made out of onyx and stone. Lamps made out of sapphire and rubies. A beautiful black leather sectional faces the fireplace. I look around some more and see a huge door. I run to it as fast as my body can take. I unlock it as fast as my shaky hands allow. When I get the door open, just as I start to make my way outside of this place, the door slams shut on me. I turn around quickly and see nothing. “Leaving so soon?” A deep, mysterious, yet terrifying voice says. I look up and see a man dressed in all black. He looked like he was maybe in his thirties. His hair slicked back with way too much gel, his shoes shinier than a diamond, his skin as white as snow, literally. He looked slender yet he also looked as if he could break me in half as if I were a twig. Intimidating was an understatement. “Who are you? Where am I? Let me go!” I shout to the mysterious man on the stairway. He slowly starts to walk down. “Now Rayna, I’m afraid I can’t do that. The prince is going to want to see you. Why don’t you listen like a good girl and sit down?” The man smiles at me but the look in his eyes says a completely different story. They’re expressionless, merciless. I immediately feel my entire body shaking. I feel like throwing up. Prince? What prince? Why am I here? I think to myself. I have a feeling this is only the beginning. I’m the pawn to some weird, twisted game.
