Uncertain

The man before me slowly starts pacing back and forth. His eyes are expressionless and his grin sends shivers down my spine. “You know, if I’m missing for too long, my friends and family WILL send a search party out for me. Do you really want that?” The man before me stopped and just stood as still as a statue for a few moments but he turns around and stares at me. All the sudden he starts laughing hysterically. “Listen, Rayna, I’m not afraid of your little party. I’m not afraid of authorities. You have no idea what I’m capable of. I suggest you stop your little whining and shut up.” “Wow, what a freaking nutcase.” I whisper to myself. The man starts chuckling again. “You know I can hear you, right?” What the heck is happening anymore? I think to myself. I decide to sit down and shut up because no matter what I say it’s not going to phase this crazy man. I start picking at my nails. It’s a nervous habit of mine. I think the man notices it because he slowly turns around and looks at me like I’m the one who’s crazy. “Could you please stop putting your disgusting dead skin on this rug? I just had this shampooed yesterday.” He rolls his eyes at me and looks back at the fire. “Not only is this man crazy but he’s an apparent germaphobe. How lovely.” I think to myself. “Rayna, I’m going to tell the cook to make you something to eat. The prince will never forgive me if I let his guest go hungry. Don’t even think of trying to escape while I am gone.” I just nod my head. I’m not in the mood to eat or talk to this man. I’m certainly not going to eat for this so called “prince” either. My stomach starts growling really loudly. I admit it. I’m starving but there’s no way I’m going to listen to anything this man says. Starving for some reason sounds better to me. I wait until he leaves and take a deep breath. Ha. I know it’s probably dumb of me to try and leave but what am I going to lose? It’s not like I want to stay and be whoever’s little prisoner. Right now, I wish I had my witch powers already so I could fight my way out of here if needed. I can feel my heart racing faster and faster as I slowly turn around and look at the front door. “Time to get the heck out of here” I think to myself. I slowly creep towards the front door and approach the locks. My hands are trembling as I try to work up the courage to unlock the door. As my hand reaches the door, I feel a huge gust of wind behind me. “What did I say about trying to leave?” The creepy man was back and he did not look happy. I feel as if I jumped out of my skin. My breathing shallow and heavy. “I-I’m s-s-sorry.” Is all I could manage to say. The man slowly walks over to me until he’s in my face. His cold breath on my skin. “Your sorry means absolutely nothing. Now come little brat. Eat up and stop getting yourself in trouble before I lose my job.” He grabs the top of my hair and starts dragging me to the dining room. I whimper in pain as it feels he’s pulling thousands of my hairs out of my head. He finally releases me and my scalp feels as if it is on fire. “Now, sit.” All I could do now was listen. I have a feeling I’m not going to find a way out of here anytime soon. The more I frustrate this crazy man, the more I fear him. I sit down on the most comfortable dining room chair I’ve ever sat in. The cushion was made of the softest silk. The dining room table looks as if it could fit an entire classroom. The table was made out of beautiful black and dark grey marble with a hue of purple in certain places. The silverware was made out of gold. The goblets and plates were also made out of gold and look brand freaking new. There was windows everywhere with stained glass and the borders of the window had crystals surrounding it. There was bouquets of flowers running down the table. I can’t help but wonder how much this place is worth. How does somebody afford this? If this castle was under different circumstances, I’d be in complete awe of the beauty radiating in this place. “Excuse me miss, we don’t know what kind of food you like, so here’s a variety.” I look up and see a girl dressed in a long black apron. Her black hair tied into a perfectly shaped bun. Her purple eyes were so bright, you’d think they were glowing. She was beautiful and for some reason, I get a vibe she’s not here on her own terms. “Thank you.” I tell her. I look down on the tray in front of me. I’ve never seen so much food in my life! One plate had steaming roasted potatoes, green beans glazed in bacon juice, and meatloaf. The next plate had the cheesiest looking lasagna I’ve ever seen. There was also a couple slices of pizza, macaroni, chicken breasts, biscuits, honey glazed carrots, salads, and vegetable soup. I hear my stomach growl louder than before as I feel my mouth salivating. I grab my fork and dig into a little bit of everything. I’m not happy here at all but my taste buds sure are. This is some of the best tasting foods I’ve ever had. When I’m done and I’m full, I wipe my mouth with my napkin and lean back in the chair I’m in. “Rayna, go wash off in the shower and brush your teeth. The prince can’t stand bad hygiene.” Great, I forgot about this man. There he is again though, bossing me around like I’m a pet. I stand up as he’s waiting right at my chair. “This way.” He tells me. I follow him up the stairs I was on earlier but this is a different section of the castle. “Here’s a towel for you. There’s clean clothes for you outside of the shower along with perfume, a tooth brush and toothpaste, deodorant, and a face mask. I’ll leave a guard by the door to make sure you don’t try to escape this time.” The man throws the towel at me and pushes me a little bit into the bathroom before closing the door. I look around and I’m amazed even more than before. The shower and bathtub in here are sparkling with beautiful opal stones. The lighting radiates the colors even more, making a rainbow like appearance in the air. This bathroom is bigger than my house. The stone flooring with little pieces of crystals shimmering as I walk. The tiles have freaking diamonds in them. “Wow.” Is all I can say to myself. I hang my towel up and get in the shower. I clean myself up, brush my teeth, and put the face mask on. When it’s done hardening I wash it off. My face has never felt so smooth. I look down at my clothes and suddenly feel disgusted again. Why would he give me such a little dress? Whatever. I have no choice but to listen to the psycho. I change out of my bathrobe into the dress and I slowly open the door. There indeed was a guard waiting for me. He was dressed all in black and he had to at least be over six feet tall. “Let’s go.” He grabs my arm and puts me back into the room I woke up in. He pushes me in there and slams the door. I can hear it lock from the outside. Once again, I feel myself shaking and my heart racing. I was lost in thought until I heard loud footsteps coming closer and closer towards my room. Suddenly, the door flies open and I literally want to hurl. In front of me was the gorgeous man I saw in the bakery. His icy blue eyes piercing through me. His muscles peaking out of his shirt. His jaw twitched a little as he looked me up and down. He started walking toward me and I could feel myself backing up to the corner of the wall. “This can’t be happening.” I think to myself. He finally stopped right in front of me with his face so close to mine, I couldn’t see anything else. My heart was racing and felt like it would explode and my stomach was in knots. This handsome creature intimated me more than this whole experience here. I’m in for a long troubling ride.
