I can’t marry her she’s too fat
*Chapter 1: A Marriage For Money* The Seo family mansion smelled like expensive flowers and cold silence. Crystal chandeliers hung from ceilings so high Wendy felt small just standing there. Everything was white and gold. Nothing was warm. At the long glass table sat four people who held her future in their hands. *Mr. and Mrs. Seo.* Korean. Billionaires. Their son was the crown prince of Seoul’s business world. *Mr. and Mrs. Okafor.* Nigerian. Oil money. They flew 12 hours just for this meeting. And in the middle, on a black folder, was the contract. Wendy stood behind her parents. Her hands were sweating. She was 16. Her dress was too tight. She knew. She had gained 20kg that year after her grandma died and food was the only thing that stopped the pain. Her long black coiling hair was braided down her back. Her face was pretty. But nobody was looking at her face. All eyes were on the contract. "Sign it," Mrs. Seo said. Her voice had no warmth. She looked at her son. *Jae-Hyun Seo.* 18. He was unfairly handsome. Cat eyes, sharp and cold. Tall. Perfect skin. The kind of face that was on billboards. Girls screamed his name at the airport. Today, he looked bored. And angry. Next to him, Wendy tried not to shake. The Seo Group needed to expand to Africa. The Okafor Group had the ports, the government connections, the oil. The merger would make both families trillions. But there was one condition from the Okafor side: "Union of families." A marriage. "Jae-Hyun," Mr. Seo said. "Sign." Jae-Hyun picked up the pen. He didn’t look at Wendy once. He signed his name with sharp, angry strokes. Jae-Hyun Seo. Then it was Wendy’s turn. Her hand trembled. *Wendy Okafor.* Just like that, her life was sold. Because of money, Jae-Hyun had to get married to her. Because of money, Wendy had no choice in whosoever they gave to her. Her mom squeezed her shoulder. "Be a good wife," she whispered. Wendy nodded. She didn’t know what else to do. --- *10 years later. Same house. Different prison.* Wendy was 26 now. She still had the long hair. It reached past her waist. People used to compliment it. She was also still fat. Very fat. 140kg. The guys in university laughed. The men at parties looked past her. She got used to rejection. But this... this was different. This was her husband. Jae-Hyun was 28 now. Even more handsome. Even colder. He was CEO of Seo Global. He owned buildings. He owned people. He owned her. On paper. They lived in the same 20-bedroom mansion in Seoul. They ate at the same table. They slept in different wings. Every morning was the same war. Wendy would wake up at 5am to cook. She would make japchae, bulgogi, rice. His favorites from when they first married and she was stupid enough to hope. She would set the table. Wait. Jae-Hyun would come down in his suit. He wouldn’t say good morning. This morning was no different. She placed the plate in front of him. "I made your favorite—" The plate flew. Hot stew splashed across her grey dress. Burned her skin. Rice scattered on the marble floor. "Take the trash away from me!" Jae-Hyun shouted. His cat eyes were furious. "If you want to feed garbage, feed yourself!" Wendy didn’t move. Tears fell and mixed with the stew on her chest. "But you didn’t eat—" "I said GET OUT!" She picked up the broken plate with shaking hands. Went to the kitchen. Washed her dress in the sink. Cried quietly so the maids wouldn’t hear. At noon, she tried again. She brought him cold water and his medicine. His stomach had been bad. He looked at the glass. "Don’t touch my things with your hands," he said. He pushed it off the table. Glass shattered. "Are you trying to poison me? Fat and stupid." Wendy apologized and cleaned it. At night, she tried to talk. Just 5 minutes. "Jae-Hyun, can we—" "Don’t come near me," he cut her off. He stepped back like she had a disease. "You disgust me. You’re smelling. You’re too fat for my liking. Get out of my life." Wendy ran to her room. Locked the door. She sat on the floor and touched her long hair. "Why am I like this?" she whispered to no one. "Why am I so fat? Why does nobody want me?" She cried until her throat hurt. Until she had no tears left. Then she slept on the floor because the bed felt too big and too empty. Down the hall, Jae-Hyun drank whiskey alone. To him, this marriage was a 10-year prison sentence. To Wendy, it was a cage she never asked to enter. And tomorrow would be the same.
