Chapter 13

Jane's Point Of View

My mind kept thinking about the discussion I heard them having before I made my presence known to them. I couldn't believe that they wanted to create a pack just because of me. He's going through so much just in a short while of him meeting me and I know that forming a pack will cost a lot of money and he's going to be spending that much all, all because of me, and to think he doesn't want me to know about it. I couldn't help but think that it would have been better if he hadn't met me. Because at least he wouldn't be going through all this, I think it would be better if I left this place for a place where no one can find me. At least he wouldn't have a reason to worry about me so much if I was not here and his life wouldn't be in danger also.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't realise that I had hardly taken a bite from the food in front of me, not until I heard him call my name that I jolted back to the present.

"Hmm, did you say something?". I asked him. When I looked at him I saw worries written on his face.

"What were you thinking about?". He asked me.

"Nothing, I wasn't thinking about anything". I replied as I forced a smile on my face.

"Don't tell me you aren't thinking about anything, because you've hardly touched your meal and you seem so lost in thought just now". He said.

"It's nothing, I just don't have an appetite". I lied.

"Are you feeling sick? Or don't you like the meal? If so, I could prepare something else for you. Just tell me what you want, my love". He said as he now looks at me with so much worry in his eyes and that broke my heart. To know that he's this worried about me makes me scared the more because I knew that he'd do everything possible to protect me even if it could cost him his life.

"No, I'm not sick and the food is okay". I said as I looked from him to Mike, who was just staring at us.

"Then, what is the problem because you said you were starving earlier but now you say you don't have an appetite, baby, please talk to me". He urged

"I heard what you guys were talking about earlier and I'm beginning to think maybe it would have been better if you never met me, so I think I should just leave". I finally told him as I burst into tears.

"Leave? how could you even think of leaving me baby?". When I just found you". He said unhappily.

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't think of a better solution. I don't want anything to happen to you because our pack alpha is very strong and ruthless and if he's able to find me, he could harm you just to take me, and also you are already about to form a pack just because of me and that will cost you a lot of money. I've brought nothing but trouble for you". I said amidst the sobbing.

"Sweetie, you are not a trouble to me, and even if your alpha finds you, he can't do anything to me or me. As for the forming of a pack, the plan was already on the ground but I was just waiting until I found my mate because I can't run a pack without a mate. I can't do that alone and now that I've found you, there's no need to waste time and money isn't a problem for me. So please don't ever think of leaving me again, okay?". He stated as he pulled me in for a hug, not minding that his beta was there.

"Hmmm, I think I should take my leave now so that I can call the people necessary to start the work". Mike said as he stood up to take his leave.

"Okay, keep me posted and I'll send someone to bring the card to you". Damion said to him and he took his leave.

"Babe, you need to eat. You know you haven't eaten anything apart from the breakfast you had this morning". He said as he took the spoon and started to feed me.

"I'm sorry for saying I wanted to leave". I apologised to him.

"It's okay, just don't ever have such thoughts in mind again, okay? Because I can't survive it if you leave me". He said and I nodded, as he was still feeding me.

I'm so very lucky to have such a wonderful mate, and I know my parents will be happy too. Speaking of my parents, I still need to call them so as to inform them about having found my mate and also to ask them to move down here. Because the thought of our alpha capturing and torturing them to get information about my where about from them terrifies me, I know he's only taking things easy for now because he thinks I'm just here to study and that when I'm done, I'll be coming back, but if he learns that I've found my mate, then there will be problems.

I finished the food and Damion cleared the dishes and I couldn't help but wonder, how could he be these gentle, loving, caring, handsome, rich and considerate despite him being an alpha, because it's very rare to meet such an alpha at least not from where I came from. Most alphas over there always want to show their domineering nature that most Omegas are scared of having an alpha as their mate, but here I am blessed by the goddess with such a wonderful alpha as a mate.

"Let me help clean the dishes". I said to him as I stood up to assist.

"No, don't bother, the maid will take care of it. Let's go to the living room". He said as he led me out of the kitchen.

"I love you so much". I said to him when we got to the living room and hugged him.

"I love you too and you have nothing to worry about, I just need you to trust me". He said and hugged me back.

"Okay. I need to call my parents". I informed him as we sat down to watch the TV and I pulled out my phone from my pocket and dialed my dad's number.

"How are you son? Your mother told me you had your first heat". He said he picked it up immediately.

"I'm okay dad, and how are you and mom". I asked him.

"We're okay, for now at least". He replied.

" What do you mean?". I asked him.

"The alpha sent for me yesterday and inquired about you, and he even said I should tell him which university you were so that his son the future alpha could come check up on you and see to it if you need anything. But I told him you are very busy right now and you might not even be able to attend to him if he comes". Dad explained.

"Dad, I've found my mate here". I told him and there was a long silence and I even thought the call had dropped.

"That's great news son, and I'm so happy to hear that. So tell me who is your mate?". He asked.

"His name is Damion Lee, and he's an alpha". I told him.

"It's a good thing that he's an alpha, but does he head a pack? because it's only pack protection that can keep you safe from our alpha and his son". He said worriedly that I had no choice than to lie for now because I didn't want my parents to be worried.

"Yes dad, he is the alpha of the pack here and I'm well protected, so you don't have to worry about me dad. Rather it's you guys I'm worried about because I don't know what the alpha could do when he finds out that I've found my mate and I don't want him to hurt you or mom". I told him all this. Throughout the conversation Damion was holding my hand as if he was giving me support.

"We are okay son, but have you guys mated yet". He asked and that made me blush.

"Not yet". I said as I looked at Damion and I could see how flushed he was because the phone was on speaker.

"What are you waiting for, son? Don't you know that when you are mated with your mate no other alpha can claim you? That would be against the rule and the penalty could even be death if he tries to take you by force". He explained.

"I guess I'll just have to discuss it with him. And, dad, the reason I called is that Damion said if you are okay with it, you and mom could move down here, he'll provide accommodation for you. At least that way, I'll know you are safe with me". I informed him.

"I'll think about it, son, but I don't want to inconvenience him. But I'll discuss it with your mom and get back to you. Take care of yourself and I'd like to meet your mate soon". He said.

"He wants to meet you too. Tell mom I love her for me". I said

"I will, since you only love your mom but not me". He said as he ended the call and I was quiet for sometime, praying for them to be okay.

"Darling, everything is gonna be fine, okay?". Damion said as he hugged me.

"I truly pray so, I can't let my parents get hurt because of me". I said as tears filled my eyes.

"Don't worry, nothing will happen to them". He said.

"So what do you think about what my dad said, about us mating now". I asked him.

"I know, but I just don't want to rush you and I want you to be ready when we do that". He told me and looked into my eyes and I could see the lust in them.

"Of course I'm ready". I reassured him but he nodded.

"You are going through a lot of emotions right now and, from what I've heard, you need to be completely calm when mating as it'll drain your energy". He explained.

"Okay, so when will it be?". I asked.

"When I'm certain that you are ready for it". He said and made me lie down on the sofa and rest my head on his thigh as he played with my hair.

"Can I ask you something?". I asked suddenly.

"Hm". He responded and looked down at me.

"Are you from a rich background?". I asked because, from the look of things, I could see that he was rich.

"Yeah, my family is rich, but I've made my own money too and that's what I'm living on and not my family's". He said.

"Okay". I left it at that because I didn't want to pry into his private life too much because I believe he'll tell me if he feels he wants to.

"So tell me, what would you like to do this evening?". He asked me.

"I'm not really in the mood to do anything, but tomorrow I'd like to go to my apartment". I told him.

"No, you are not going there, because you'll be staying with me from now on as I don't want you to be alone and I need to keep you by my side so I can keep you safe". He said, as a matter of fact which made me smile.

"I know, I heard your conversations earlier, I just want to go and get something from there and probably clear the place so they can rent it out since I won't be staying there again". I told him.

"Okay, that's not a problem, I'll tell someone to handle that and they'll bring your things here. Just make a list of what you want, but you are not going back there". He said with an expression that says "that's final" on his face which made me unable to argue about it further.

"Okay". That's all I can say.

"I'll tell the school that you'll be taking your lectures online from now on. And you cannot go anywhere alone. Whenever you want to go out, I have to be with you, but if I happen not to be around, then you'll have three bodyguards with you". He told me and that took me by surprise.

"What? but that's not necessary". I protested.

"Yes it's necessary babe, your safety is my priority and I'll do anything to keep you safe. So please don't argue with me about these". He looked at me pleadingly and I decided to let him have his way.

"Okay, I'll go with that arrangement for now". I said to him.

"Thanks babe". He said happily.
