The trip from the Happy Gull to the border was very short and uneventful. The crossing itself took several hours, with most of that time spent waiting in a long line of cars. They were sure the border patrol agent assumed they were a married couple because he seemed a little surprised as he looked at Hank’s passport which would, of course, in Karyn’s mind, contain the name Westcott. Hank hoped she herself wouldn’t look at the passport as she passed it back to him, because if she saw the name Bellakoff, there would be lot of explaining to do that might put a damper on this potentially idyllic trip.
