Hank lay on the floor, about six or seven feet from Karyn’s side of the bed, facing her. He had the help of four thin blankets and two pillows heavily stuffed with duck feathers, which, while not at all as comfortable as luxurious goose down, was not bad at all. The blankets, however were quite thin and the floor hard, and they made him yearn for the comforters and heavy blankets usually found in New England motels. But cold he wasn’t. As he watched Karyn drift off, he felt that warm glow he always felt when near her.
