I could feel them through the broken bond as soon as Mathias got back to our room. He was completely exhausted. His emotional state was shattered and all over the place. Through the barely working bond connection, I could feel the burden of what he had just done.
I was already waiting for him when he entered. I had sent Daxon a message asking him to come to our room. Both of them needed this. Both of them needed to know they were not alone.
When Daxon arrived minutes later, he looked even worse than Mathias. His body was trembling. His eyes held the look of someone who had watched everything he knew collapse.
I did not ask them questions. Did not demand explanations. I simply pulled them both down onto the bed and held them.
