Chapter Twenty-nine: Aiden

. . . . . . (early July) Sinah was on her second bowl of a thick cream soup that smelled like cheese and bacon when Lilian perked up. "Kyle's here!" She jumped up from her seat and darted out the door. Sinah grinned and picked her bowl up as she stood, ready to follow us to the door when a middle-aged she-wolf touched her arm and whispered in her ear. Her eyebrows shot up and she set her bowl down slowly, nodding to the woman. I raised an eyebrow. "Problem?" Sinah shook her head. "Probably not, you guys go help Lilian get Kyle in here, I can handle this, it won't be a minute." She smiled and stood on her tiptoes to give me a quick kiss before following the wolf out of the room. Bryce shrugged at me, and we followed Lilian outside. She was in Kyle's arms, kissing him soundly, making him blush and everyone standing around grin. The human that came with him stepped up and offered his hand to me. "You must be the new boss. I thought we were going to find a creepy cabin in the woods, but this is seriously nice, man." I took his hand and shook it, his grip was firm, for a human. "I am Aiden Soleis, welcome to my family home." He looked around in amazement. "It is very late; would you like to stay the evening and rest? My pleasure, of course." "I'm Richard Davis, everyone calls me Rick." He glanced over at Bryce and blushed abruptly. "Uh... oh yeah.. yes! I mean, if it's not a problem." Bryce looked surprised, and he studied the newcomer more closely, his eyes shining a deep emerald. "No problem at all." I smiled at Rick. "Come inside, I believe dinner is still on the table. If you're hungry?" "Sweet, thank you, Sir! Six hours with just donuts and coffee is harsh." He took a deep breath as soon as he entered the foyer. "Oh man, and that smells amazing!" Bryce slid up between us and took his hand, guiding him to the dining room. I watched Rick's brain turn off as Bryce turned on the charm. "This way, please." He practically purred at Rick, who was blushing again. "The menu was steak, but we can find something else if that doesn't tempt you." I bit my lip and let Bryce whisk the poor human away. I caught a whiff of Bryce's scent, it wasn't time for Mir's heat, but man, did Bryce turn on the fire when Rick accidentally jumped in the frying pan. I chuckled softly, hoping for both of them that Rick liked men. Lilian and Kyle watched the pair leave and Kyle held his hand out to me. "Alpha. Pleased to meet you, I'm Kyle Logan." I gripped his hand and smiled. "Pleased to meet you Kyle, call me Aiden, and welcome to the pack." "Thanks. Mind if I follow those two so I can eat and watch?" I grinned. "Stay close to Lilian, once Bryce is in the mood, he gets... frisky. Doesn't mean anything by it, but it takes a little getting used to." Kyle laughed and gave me a playful salute. "Duly noted, thank you." He squeezed Lilian's hand and they walked into the dining room together. /:Aiden, love, would you come to the dungeon a moment?:/ Sinah's voice was calm, but I could still feel myself getting on alert as I hurried to the basement and made my way to the dungeon. Sinah was standing in front of one of the cells, absently chewing on her thumbnail as she considered the cell's resident. "Selene did this." I turned to look into the cell and my eyes widened at the battered teen chained to the wall. His entire body was covered in welts and bruises, and I could hear his breath wheezing slightly. "What the hell?" Sinah nodded. "She woke up when I got down here. She says all she did was take the damage he caused and gave it back to him." "Twofold? Goddess." "She said no, that is all he had done to that poor girl." "Ah." "Yeah." "Well, I can't bring myself to feel sorry for him, just interested in how your wolf managed something like that." Our eyes clouded abruptly, and we were both pulled into a mind link by our wolves. /:I am a special wolf, I can heal, but it takes a lot out of me and my host.:/ Selene's voice was soft, not quite solid. /:But that wasn't normal healing, I can't do things like that very often. I need sleep. Her mind was broken. I had to fix it. And he needed to be punished.:/ The mind link faded and Sinah shook her head. "She's asleep, I think." She glanced at the kid in the cell. "I don't feel sorry for him at all." I scoffed and led my mate up the dungeon steps. "Bryce and I were getting frustrated trying to think up something terrible enough to punish him for what he did to that poor girl. I think this is a fantastic development and I think hanging out down here in the dungeon for a while might teach him a lesson about respecting others." I grinned at her. "He gets to be Derek's problem when he and Marie get back from the lake house. Hey, want to watch a human go up against Bryce in the mood?" "Aiden!" She began to jog. "If it's Rick, they'll be making out on the dining room table if we don't get them to a room right away!" "I had my suspicions." "His wife left him because he admitted to liking men as well as women and she's a b***h. Bryce is the most gorgeous man on earth. He'll be on Bryce like a starving man at a buffet." "Ah... Yeah, we should hurry." . . . . . .
