. . . . . . (early July)
Bryce was mid-swing when we both froze, our heads snapping towards the infirmary. We bolted together, side by side, as we raced across the lot. One of the nurses ran out of the infirmary and held the door open for us as I shot through the opening and skidded down the hall. A second nurse was sitting on the floor across from the room, her hands over her mouth in shock. The door was open, and I could see Sinah in a crumpled pile at the foot of the little she-wolf's bed. The girl was unconscious as well.
I made it to Sinah's side, sliding on my knees the last foot or so.
"Sinah! Baby, wake up!" I scooped her into my arms and looked over her body. She didn't seem injured in any way. "Wake up, Sinah!" She scrunched her face up as she came to and shook her head.
"Holy shit."
"What happened? We were sparring and then it felt like you disappeared for a second." She shook her head again.
"I'm not sure, I came here because Selene wanted to see her, and then she took over my body, and then you woke me up." She let me help her to her feet and looked over at the girl on the bed. "She said something about the girl not being okay and then it's black." Bryce faced us with huge eyes.
"She's healed. Completely." Sinah's gaze snapped over to the she-wolf's arms. They were smooth and unblemished. I let out my breath in a rush.
"Sinah? How? What did Selene do?"
"I don't know, I can't hear her right now, I think she fainted too." She put her arms around my neck, and I carried her out of the room with Bryce trailing us. "Whatever she did, I feel like I haven't eaten in my entire life and I'm super tired. I'm going to drink my latte like a shot." A giant brown wolf launched into the clearing and skidded to a stop in front of us. Lilian jumped down from his back and rounded on us.
"What the hell was that? I made Mike stop the car and shift so he could run us here because it was faster."
"Selene took over Sinah for a second and healed a seriously damaged she-wolf." Bryce shook his head.
"I think it was just the switch to Selene that you felt, she took over so fast." Sinah grinned sleepily. "Hey, where's my coffee?" Lilian and Mike's wolf blinked in unison. Then Lilian calmly nodded and turned back towards Beta Mike, swinging back up on his back.
"Oh, well, of course, I thought it might have been something odd. But nah, just that Sinah has the gift of healing, business as usual." She had a distant look on her face as she became lost in her thoughts. "I left your coffee in the car. We'll just go back and get them now. I'll talk to Kyle and explain. See you inside." Sinah laughed as they slipped back into the woods.
"Honestly, I think she just likes riding on the wolves." She hugged my neck as her stomach rumbled. "And she's right again, this is normal for us. Now feed me before I chew your arm off." Bryce laughed.
"Yes, we can't have TWO one-armed Alpha's running around now, can we?" I grimaced.
"Don't remind me, I'm still not convinced I didn't eat part of Derek's arm." Sinah gave me a comforting squeeze.
"Aiden..." She smiled at me mischievously. "That is so gross." She laughed and jumped out of my arms while Bryce laughed, running inside the packhouse.
"The Goddess was torturing me for all those years without her." I smiled as she disappeared through the door and clapped Bryce on the shoulder. "We should probably go make sure she doesn't eat one of the cooks."
"Torture is a bit harsh," Bryce chuckled, "It's not like she misplaced your mate on purpose."
