Chapter Seventeen: Aiden

. . . . . . (early July) My heart felt like it had exploded, and I crashed to the ground, a scream tearing out of my throat as my entire body spasmed uncontrollably. I felt like I had been dropped into acid and my vision turned red. I couldn't stop my body from shifting, Rhys took over and we tore our clothing off as we changed. Our scream turned into a roar. We slammed through a wall and sunk our teeth onto something soft, shaking our head furiously before letting it drop limply from our jaws. A scream hit us like a lightning bolt, and we raced towards it. We smashed through a window, the glass practically exploding into the room. Our mate was screaming, her body was arched backwards like she was going to snap in half. Something in her hands was making a blinding light, but it shattered before we could move. Her body began to contort and shift, we could hear her bones snapping as they reformed. Fur sprouted from her skin and her scream stopped. Our vision cleared as our mate howled, a long, triumphant noise, full of such joy our heart felt like breaking. We lifted our head and added our voice to hers. Then she fainted. We wondered if this was a habit for her. ]"AIDEN MARCUS SOLEIS!! SHIFT BACK! NOW!"[ I couldn't fight the command in the voice, my body shifted back automatically. I was left standing naked in Gigi's office, a look of complete, dumbfounded shock stuck on my face. I'm an alpha wolf, I should not be able to be commanded that easily, but Gigi was practically glowing from the power radiating from her. "For crying out loud! She was only dead for like two seconds! Stop acting like a fool this instant!" I stared at her, struggling to understand what I was seeing. Her body WAS glowing, and it was getting brighter. And then she vanished, and I saw her body on the floor a few feet away. She was dead. My brain felt stuck in slow motion. Someone grabbed my arm and threw me to the floor, pinning me down. I didn't struggle, I just lay there, staring at Gigi's corpse lying on the ground in front of a huge silver wolf. /:Our mate.:/ Rhys's voice was barely a whisper, he was having difficulty thinking as well. Someone was shouting and feet stopped in front of my face, blocking my view. I recognized Derek's voice when he knelt in front of me and touched my shoulder. "Aiden! Are you sane?" I blinked, my body snapping out of its trance. "HOLYFUCKWHATTHESHIT??" I began struggling and the person kneeling on my back released me. I scrambled across the floor to my mate. "Aiden! What the fück happened?" Sinah's wolf was breathing steadily, her change must have caused her to faint, the pain is intense for your first shift. I sat cross-legged on the floor, staring at her. "I have no idea, Derek." I looked up at him and winced. He was missing his right arm; his shirt was currently employed as a tourniquet. His eyes were completely black. "Aw fück man, you were right-handed." I don't know why I said that. I think I was in shock; my brain must have grasped the most normal thing for me to focus on. Derek's reaction was priceless though. His face went through every possible emotion it could in two seconds, stopping when he made it to pure rage. "YOU SCARED THE SHÏT OUT OF US, DESTROYED THE PACKHOUSE, AND RIPPED OFF MY FÜCKING ARM. WHAT. THE. FÜCK. HAPPENED?" "I really don't know, man, but you are going to have to shake hands with the general as a lefty now." Yeah, I was in shock or something, I had no control over my mouth. Derek gaped. His disbelief was a physical force. He just stood there, blinking at me and clenching his left hand into a fist. Then he decked me, and it was my turn to pass out. . . . . . .
