“Yes. I suggest we find Midnight.” I laugh at that too, and the barest hint of a smile flashes through Storm’s face. Not many people get his jokes. We find Midnight sitting with Blade and Bear at the canteen. Splendid. I was getting hungry. The twins and I get trays, load them up with food then head over to the guys. “Hey, hi.” “Come, sit,” Bear invites us. “Thanks. Dancer?” “Morning laps,” Blade says, shaking his head. Dancer is a fanatic. I now remember he used to do five laps every day before breakfast. I did not understand it at the time, because the laps were a form of punishment, but I now know they’re an excellent exercise, preparing us for the everyday challenges we face.
