Prologue
If you had a glimpse of the future, what would you do?
I'm not sure, though.
If it's a future that has yet to happen, then why do I feel like I went through all of it before?
I know it sounds crazy. Well, I think I might be going crazy. But I just can't get rid of the feeling that this is already my second life.
Things happened so fast and it felt like I was a spectator watching a movie. However, I was the main character of the show.
I won the biggest jackpot prize after I found a lottery ticket by accident. Overnight, I suddenly became a millionaire and no longer a middle-class scholar.
I've always wanted to be rich; I dreamed of becoming rich and living a very comfortable and luxurious life. Who would've thought my wish would come true just like that? I can join the elite circle, become friends with high society, and live a glamorous life. I'm so lucky!
So, I dropped out of school and threw out a party to debut myself into high society. After that, I built my own perfume company to start a business empire. Even though my family disagreed, they couldn't do anything about it! It's my money anyway! Finders keepers! I wanted to show all of them that I can just be like any other corporate heir heiress: smart, successful, sociable and extravagant.
But I spoke too soon.
The first party I hosted was a disaster. Police barged in the next morning and claimed we had party drugs. I knew the party was clean; I made sure of it. But somehow…someone snuck in and planted illegal drugs at my party.
In less than a day, I became a laughingstock. It was humiliating! But money speaks a thousandfold. There's always a solution when you've got a lot of money.
But that wasn't the end. It was actually the beginning of unending misfortune that ruined me and my family. It’s as if I was being punished for winning the lottery and becoming rich! Was it because the ticket wasn't mine, to begin with?
Maybe. Maybe not. I really don't know.
But then my two older siblings unexpectedly got into a terrible accident and went unconscious. My company was suddenly on the verge of going bankrupt and my mother was constantly in and out of the hospital because of a mysterious disease.
Unfortunately, my older brother passed away first, and shortly after, my older sister followed. The pain was too much for my mother; she suffered a heart attack that took her life away. Unable to bear the tragedy that struck my family, my father became depressed and took too many sleeping pills, resulting in a drug overdose.
Suddenly, I was left all alone in this world, and with everything on the brink of breaking apart. I could no longer live well after that. I got sick more often; I didn't eat well and always had nightmares.
Maybe this is God's punishment for making that ticket mine. But why did it end up in my hands in the first place if it wasn't meant for me?
I was a fool.
I thought I was destined to live a happy life. But I guess I was wrong.
I guess I was always fated to live a miserable life.
Everything was a mistake...until the day I fell on him.
