Aurora sat in the garden long after Darius left, her arms were folded tight against her chest even though it wasn’t cold.
She had told herself she wouldn’t care, that Rowan watching from the window meant nothing, that she could laugh with Darius and still keep her heart sealed, but even after she had seen Darius out she was too uneasy to go back inside.
She kept clenching and unclenching her jaw, forcing her eyes away from the dark window even though she knew who stood there, eyes burning holes into her skin.
When the sun was fully up and the sky was bright and blue, she stood up and made her way inside slowly, stopping near the stairs.
