Chapter 1

“Ryder!” Yelled Melissa, one of the Fab Four of Best friends. “Wait up girl! You have longer legs than I do!” Which is true but only by about 3 inches on a good day. “Move it or lose it! The cafeteria is already serving lunch and they have limited amount of the cheeseburgers and fries!”I looked at her with a glare then smiled letting her know I was teasing her. She had a huge grin on her face so I know she is going to want to talk about either boys, boys, or about my birthday party that we are having at the club tomorrow night. Finally catching up we linked our arms together and started walking again. “You must be really hungry today, I see your concentration face or is that constipation,” she laughed out at me. I gave her the look of death and just kept walking. I am hungry all the time since my wolf made her appearance at the age of 16. Since then my friends like to mention that I eat like a lumber Jack man. I wish I could explain that I just burn more calories because of my body heat and the energy it takes to train myself and Blue, my wolf, daily. “I may be a bit hungry. I am just a growing girl! Now what did you want to talk about?” “So everything is set up for your party tomorrow night. We have the VIP section to ourselves and whoever we want up there. We got the best DJ in town and they are even naming a drink after you!” “Sweet. I hope it actually tastes good. “ We got in line and I could smell the food. I almost started salvating so I wiped my mouth. ‘Ryder I NEED at least 3 cheeseburgers and 3 fries! I am famished,’ my wolf Blue moaned. I stifled a laugh at her tone. I knew what it was like to be excited about food when your starving. ‘ I got you girl. I will also be getting a few desserts!’ I sit down at the table we always sit at. It is right beside one of the windows of the careteria with close distance to the door so we can leave quickly and quietly when needed.  I am the first one here and I am ok with that. It means I can munch down on some of this food before my friends get here and wonder how I put it all away without gaining like a thousand pounds. One day I hope I can tell them but it just isn’t safe with the secret I am carrying. I know they are human and it would be hard for them to understand anyway. There are very few werewolves left and the ones that are will kill me or e*****e me for my family’s secret and power. “Hey sista from another mista! Thank goodness its lunch I needed a break from all this learning,” screeched Natalie, another from our group, as she sat down with her tray. She was only having a salad with a lemon water. Her and her diets are hard to keep up with since they change weekly. “Look at all the food. I am so jealous! One day I will know your secret girl!” She winked at me as I rolled my eyes. “You know I have no secret way of staying this fit! I just have good genes so thank my momma!” “Ok, we can go with that for now. Lets talk about your party tomorrow and what your going to wear. I found several outfits I am in love with but can’t decide.” She got her phone out and started showing me the different outfits. To be honest I hadn’t even really looked or had the time to. Between school, werewolf training, and all my home work I barely have time to sleep. “I have my eye on a couple things. I am going to run to the mall tomorrow and pick the winning outfit. I want it to be a surprise.” I pushed my tray away feeling quilty for the small lie even though I lie everyday about my hidden life. ‘Just tell them the truth. They would understand and might even help you pick something out.’ Blue whined as she felt bad for lying to them as well. ‘They have their own lives to take care of and don’t need to add anything from my plate. They already planned my party.’ I replied as  took a big bite of my cheeseburger. I knew that would quiet Blue up while she enjoyed the bite.
