Chapter 2

“Ryder,” Natalie said sternly looking me straight in the eye,” I know you are lying. I told them you wouldn’t have time.” I could tell she was about to go onto a tangent about me being too busy and too stubborn to actually ask for help but at the moment I saw Melissa and, the last member of the Fab Four, Parker speed walking over to us with worried faces. My eyes started darting around the room to see the potential danger that had my friends acting this way. Blue was on high alert as well and was hoping to smell the danger before it got here. “Ryder,” Parker breathed out quickly,” They are here. They got back early from their away game. We need to leave now.” He grabbed my tray and my hands pulling me out of my seat. Melissa was helping Natalie grab all her stuff so we could leave faster. “Is it all three or just one? “ I asked as the door opened and all three walked in. I should have known I wouldn’t be able to get away fast enough. I take a deep breath and keep my hands steady as I pack up my back pack to leave the cafeteria. I whisper to my friends to remain calm that there are too many witnesses for them to pull what they did last month. “Hey loser club. Where are you going so fast,” yelled Blake, the football running back and one of the popular kids, while he headed toward us alongside Richard and Andrew. Richard, another popular kid who plays the offensive tackle, and Blake are just followers. It is Andrew who is the ring leader and the meanest of them all. He is also the most popular kid in school and the school quarterback, which helps his status and lets him get away with so much. They stopped at our table and stared at us. The lunch room got quiet and everyone was staring at us. They all know how we are treated by these guys but no one stands up for us or helps us in anyway. They don’t want the wrath put on them. “Ryder Ryder Ryder. Where are you going so fast? You and your friends don’t want to stop and chat. I have a few things I would like to discuss. One of them being your party tomorrow night at Club W. I am guessing our invites got lost in the mail,” Andrew sneered as he took a seat at the table and patted the seat I was just in. I sat back down and stared at him with a fake smile. “No they did not get lost in the mail. You are not invited. A birthday party is for friends and family. You are neither to me,” I stated with a hard glare. I grabbed my backpack and started to stand up. Andrews hand latched onto my wrist almost snapping it in half. I cried out in pain and stayed in my seat. “Oh my gosh. Let her go you maniac,”yelled Parker. He tried to run over to help but blake held onto him while Richard blocked the girls. I had to keep my cool and not use any werewolf advantages. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I chanted ‘ I am calm, I am cool, I am collected’ over and over before opening my eyes. “Andrew let go of me right now. I know I haven’t stood up for myself before but you do not know who you are messing with.” I put my hand on top of his and looked him straight in the eye with a slight smile to my lips. I may not be able to show my wolf off to anyone just yet but one day these jerks will see the badass I can be. “I think I will keep my hand where it is. You are a weak, pathetic loser who I will continue to torment just because I can.”
