Wilder marched onto Axel’s office as soon as his workday started. When he reached the door, Axel was just opening it. Axel looked at him wild-eyed. “This is highly unusual,” he said regarding their situation and Wilder chuckled. “Yeah, I realized. Do you have any meetings or? This is quite urgent.” He pointed to the green folder he had tucked under his arm. Axel shook his head and opened the door for Wilder.
Only after they both sat in their usual places that Wilder started talking, he retold whatever Robin has told him the night before. Though Axel’s anger was evident from the first second. It was understandable, he was the Alpha and someone was threatening his pack. “This is unbelievable and to think that Robin is part of it.” He spoke in the end, Wilder lifted his brows. “Woah there, Robin isn’t with them, she is the one who handed me all these files and information, remember?” Axel nodded but waved a dismissive hand. “Yes, but she also told them all the information about the pack and is by the side of that other Alpha right now.”
Wilder expected some resistance from Axel, so he came prepared. “Robin isn’t the only one who gave them information. There was someone else as well.” Axel looked up and growled. “Who?” Wilder chuckled and took out the files he has saved for the last. “You and Wren.” He handed papers full of Professor Declan’s research. “An unknown Professor came in and asked for material for his research, you go and give him a VIP tour of the armoury and weaponry, give him access to old files, but he uses hour trust and gets up to date information about the defence of our pack.”
Axel looked at the paper, Wilder saw his eyes widen at the amount of information available to their opponents. “If it’s any consolation to you, our pack isn’t the only pack that has fallen to their trap. They approached all the packs of the old war with the same tactic and gathered quite a lot of information about everyone. If you want I have their files here as well.” Wilder put the folder on Axel’s table.
“What is Robin doing now? If she was on our side why did she go back there?” Wilder sighed and leaned back. “Look, he is powerful and has a certain power over her and an army of soldiers. She went back there to stall him. If she came back to River Banes they would definitely attack us the next day.” Axel nodded but Wilder could still see him doubting Robin and the whole bunch of information Wilder just dropped on him.
“You can’t possibly be doubting Robin’s loyalties,” Wilder stated, “You know she hates any sign of war, she wouldn’t join the fighters rank no matter how many times you asked of her, and she nearly died when trying to protect me and Wren from the rogue wolves.” Axle was carefully listening to his brother. “Then why is she not here informing me about all this. Why did she not do this wonderful report of upcoming problems when she was here last week?”
Wilder sighed, “Listen, I saw her yesterday and Robin will definitely murder me for saying this but… she looked scared. Like genuinely scared. She and I had a bond passing us each other’s emotions and I have never felt this much panic and fear from her and we have been through pretty hardcore stuff.” Wilder said. “That guy, Lucien has her cornered, any misstep and she is caught and he will use his almighty powers to make her submit to his control and attacks us. She risked being caught and punished when she met up with me yesterday.” Axel noticed how his brother looked when he spoke of Robin.
“You are worried about her,” Axel said and Wilder snorted. “Of course, I am worried, Axel! She is my friend; part of this pack and she is over there doing her best to stall a crazy Alpha that can crush her easily. Meanwhile, we are here discussing whether is it even worth it to trust her.” Wilder’s eyes shone golden, even his wolf was angry. “Trust her or not, we need to prepare,” Wilder spoke quitter this time. “You can save your questions for Robin’s loyalties for later, gods know if she will be able to get out of there, but I promised her safety here, and I am not about to break a promise.” Wilder looked at his brother with determination. Axel realised that he hasn’t seen Wilder this angry about anything.
Wilder knew Robin better than any of them, having a mates bond makes you learn more about each other, even if you fight through it. If Wilder trusted Robin, Axel would have to trust Wilder’s judgement. Axel drummed his fingers on the table and Wilder’s attention snapped towards it. “You are right, we have to prepare for the possibility of a war. Go get Wren, I doubt she will be happy about her new suitor.” Wilder chuckled and got up.
“What about Robin?” He asked at the door and Axel sighed. “If what you told me is worth anything, it sounds like she will need our help.” Wilder nodded. “And? Will you help her?’ Wilder asked impatiently. Axel looked at his brother. “What will you do, Wilder? If we learn that she is caught and needs help what will you do?” Wilder looked at him with his eyes full of determination. “I will do everything I can to help her. Granted, I can’t fight to save my life. But I will get River and even human forces if needed. I will get and do everything I can to help her. Even if it goes against your orders.”
Axel nodded, “Don’t worry, I will not let you go and embarrass yourself. Robin is one of us, we won’t leave her in trouble.” But I will question her afterwards. He thought but didn’t say it to Wilder.
In a distant pack, another Alpha was also questioning Robin’s loyalties. He needed her to do everything he asked of her, listen and obey all orders without extra fuss or input. Lucien needed Robin to fully commit to Oak Tails, he would make sure of it with his abilities.
She fought back today. His wolf growled in his mind. We are her superior and she spoke against our orders.Lucien growled as well, he has dismissed Robin not long ago, and her scent still hung in the air. He could tell, from that familiar glint in her eyes, that wouldn’t be the last of her disobedience. Once he had to kill her memories to make her obey. This time, he was prepared to do more.
