Chapter 28

Robin spent the entirety of that day and the rest of the week, in her room. When she finally had to go back to school, she was meaner than usual and kids kept away from her. Only Lucien remained, he came over from the middle schoolers lunch area just to annoy her. For the first time, Robin ignored him and this left Lucien even more hurt. He wanted to get a reaction out of her, he wanted to fight her and finally make her cry.    Unfortunately for Robin, Lucien and her house were close and they had to walk back together. “I heard your mother left you,” Lucien said and Robin looked at him angrily. “Don’t talk about her.” Lucien smiled as he finally found something to make her speak. “She left you, Robin, and to be honest, I can see why.” Robin looked at him with anger evident on her face. “You are very unruly, you keep fighting people, and you never accept the blame. A very bad kid if you ask me.” Robin shook her head. “Stop talking Lucien, or I swear to gods!” Lucien chuckled. “What? Are you going to cry because you miss your mommy?” Robin growled and pushed him away, making him stumble towards the forest.    Lucien smiled, finally a fight. Robin marched towards him, angry as ever. “Mother didn’t leave me.” She said more to herself than to him. Lucien shook his head. “She did, she abandoned you, Robin,”  Robin growled and run towards him. Lucien ran further, making them get into the forest.    They tackled each other to the ground, Lucien twisting Robin’s hair, Robin trying to punch his chest. They stopped breathless, Lucien has trapped her on the ground, Robin was still struggling. “Your mother wasn’t as good as you think she is. She wasn’t as strong as us. He needed to be taken care of.” Lucien spoke, his eyes shone, silver overtaking green. Robin’s eyes had tears on them. “You…you... are cruel.” She tried to get up to push him away but as she did so, Lucien pushed her back, hard and Robin felt a sharp pain on the back of her head.    She woke up, hours later and got blinded by the hospital lights. Robin’s whimper filled the room, within minutes people in white clothing filled the room and asked her questions she had no answers to, she couldn’t remember. “I want my mom,” she told them, but they only bought her dad who looked at her trying to see any other damage that was untreated by the doctors. He was told that Robin hit her head on the stone when trying to fight Lucien. This was bound to happen, he thought, she kept challenging the young Alpha.    Robin hugged her dad when there was another knock on the door. “Come in,” he spoke and a young boy entered the room. He looked a bit older than her, he kept looking at her waiting for Robin to speak. “Ah, Lucien, how good of you to come.” Her father spoke and looked from her daughter to the boy, expecting her to speak as well. Robin scrunched her brows and looked at the boy. “Who are you?”    The father looked from the boy to her daughter. The doctors told him that she wasn’t able to answer some of their questions he blamed it on panic. Before the father could say anything, Lucien stepped forward. “I am Lucien, your best friend. You hit your head pretty bad. But I will help you remember.”      Robin woke up with a knock on her door. “Miss, Alpha has asked to see you.” Her maid spoke and walked away. Robin checked the time and groaned. An hour earlier than the meeting. This wasn’t good. Robin was still fresh out of bed and felt the anger of her memories too strong.    She marched to the office and tried to think of something that would explain her late-night drive out of the pack and why she returned a few hours later. She could say she felt like driving around. Robin knocked on the door and heard a passive ‘come in.’ from one look into Lucien’s face it was clear that he wasn’t in the mood. “Morning,” Robin said and took a seat in front of him, Lucien looked at her with scepticism. “You have left the Pack premises yesterday.” Robin nodded, no reason to deny the undeniable. “Why?” he asked using his tone, Robin cleared her throat. “There was a friend in the city, they had a problem and needed help.” Lucien looked at her with a raised brow. “A friend in the city? I haven’t heard of them before. Who are they?”    Robin felt cornered so she sighed and spoke. “It was Margo, okay? She was back for the night and I went to see her.” She emphasized the see making it clear that she went to do more than seeing. Lucien chuckled and shook her head. “Oh Robin, Robin. You never learn, do you? Let than half-human use like that.” Robin nodded with a fake chuckle. “Well, what can I say.” Lucien looked at her with a serious face. “Next time you leave like that, inform me beforehand.” Robin scrunched her brows. “Am I to inform you every time I want to drive to the city? I am not a child.” Lucien looked at her with a raised brow.    “You are not a child, but you are my Beta and I am ordering you to tell me all your travels, from now on.” Lucien looked at her sternly. Robin kept reliving the memory of him fighting her and then acting like they were best friends. She looked right back at him. Lucien got up and walked towards her, Robin curled her hand to a fist. “You could fool all of them, all of those little wolves and packs. Act all smart and strong, get them to respect you. But never try to fool me, I am the only one you can’t foo. I see right through your act Robin.” He stood in front of her, his legs touching her knees. He grabbed her chin and dragged it up, making Robin glare at him.    “Apologize, Robin.” He spoke with his Alpha Tone, Robin kept her eyes on his, there were some boundaries she wasn’t willing to cross, she wouldn’t let him win, not this time. Lucien raised his brow. “So, we are fighting back now.” He mumbled and dragged her up from the chair. Robin wanted to growl, to throw a punch. She tried to keep herself under control, she still needed to be on Lucien’s good graces so she can stall the war and attack on Wren for as long as possible. Lucien’s hold on her chin started to hurt, he dragged her face close to his. “You are a Beta, I am your superior. Know your place, Robin, and don’t resist it.” Robin felt his breath on her face. What else would he try to make her submit to him?    “Now, let’s try this again,” Lucien said and pushed her away, letting go of her chin. “Robin, apologize.” This time, Robin didn’t fight it and put her head down. “I am sorry, Alpha.”
