The Fire Moon Nation

     I was young when my parents gave my brother and myself over to are grandparents. We were chosen. Chosen to be the future leaders of the Fire pack. The future leaders of the Fire Moon nation. I was 5 years old my brother barely 3 years old we hardly seen are parents after that day as they dropped us off and left.     My grandfather is Alpha Warren. He is very well respected in the pack for being an amazing warrior and leader. But why I was chosen by my grandfather to be the next leader even confused the most loyal to him. I’m a small pup and a female at that my brother was chosen to train to become my beta since the current beta was childless.       Setting in the house I watched my grandmother cook as we waited for grandfather to return from the training grounds. The smell of meatloaf made my stomach growl. My brother played on the floor with his toys giggling and laughing. I was always excited to go to grandma and grandpa’s but I was still confused by this trip. All of are stuff was with us in boxes and mom and dad said we were here to stay.      Grandmother was singing away as she cooked dinner when we heard the door open. A very tall man, hair grey from age, neatly cut beard, with dark blue jeans and a white shirt comes in sweeps grandmother off here feet into a huge hug. My bother and I start giggling as the man then comes to us and wraps us in his big arms spinning us around the room.    “You are home my dear. How was your day?” Grandmother said as she pulled supper from the oven and began setting the table.     “Good my darling mate. But even better now that I’m home to you and these rascal pups.” Grandfather replied as he set us back down on the ground.      Grandfather helped finishes getting ready for dinner. I got up and sat down while grandmother sat plates in front of us. I love her cooking my mouth begins to water before everyone is at the table. We set and eat and grandma and grandpa talk about the day and pack affairs.       “You know why your father and mother brought the two of you here?” Grandfather asked me as I was finishing my food.        I looked up with a mouth full of food trying to think. We were not told hardly anything. I looked and grandmother and grandfather then shook my head no before looking back down at the food.        “Tomorrow your alpha training begins,” grandfather said. “It’s time. Time for the pack and council to see why I chose you.”        I looked up shocked I am only 5 years old. Most are not even aloud to begin training until 8 years old at the youngest. Is it because I’m a female?        “Yes sir,” was all I could manage to get out.        “Your brother’s training will follow in a few years,” grandfather continued. But it’s safer for the two of you to remain here with us since the announcement has been made you are to be my heir.”         “Yes sir,” I said again as my brain was thinking hard. Why safer? Were we not the strongest pack around? I have always been told by my grandfather in the past never fear no one around has the courage or strength to face the Fire Moon Nation.         “Go wash up and get ready for bed,” grandmother told me as she cleaned up the kitchen. I found the room I always slept in when I staid with fresh pjs on the bed. I changed up and washed my hands before settling in. Grandmother was t far be hind to tuck us into bed.      “Sweet dreams,” grandmother said as she kissed my forehead. “You will understand in time.”
